exactly...It is being very naive to think LeBron is not in CP3's ear.

If it's late in the situation and NO is feeling the pressure of getting rid of him, there's no reason to sell the farm for one man. You put your offer on the table and see if another team is willingy to trade away half their squad for CP3 and Okafer. If not, you revisit NO with your offer, if they get a better deal elsewhere...you move on and continue to build with what you have and your cap flexibility. If they bite on the offer then you add CP3 to a team already full of young prospects and talent.

Getting rid of your flexibility and your young talent for essentially one person is going backwards. Like I said earlier, I can't see Donnie doing it. We're not looking to rape the organization again with bad contracts and there's no way we take Okafer.

CP3 is the kid who's Parents just bought him a PSOne with a 20' TV but sees that Lebron, D-Wade's and Bosh's Parents buy each bought them PS3s with 40' HDTVs and now wants what they have and if he doesn't get it, he might just throw a tantrum til he gets it.

Paul signed the contract because everyone signs their first extension. Plus the team was good when he resigned.

Marcus Thornton and Darren Collison aren't up and coming talent? Quincy Pondexter and Craig Brackins aren't up and coming talent? (I can almost hear the "Who?" now)
I was talking about good, proven players. Not late first rounders.

Thorton is fine, but Collison, while a good player, plays the same position as Paul.

This isn't a Chicago, Oklahoma City, or Portland a few years back.

And don't think for a second that LeBron has absolutely nothing to do with this. Don't think that Chris Paul doesn't see the situation LeBron's coasted his way into and isn't envious. LeBron, CP3, Wade, Bosh, Melo...all those dudes are tight. Hell, CP3's got the same friggin' agent as LeBron now.

And you expect me to think LeBron's not a factor? C'mon na.
So Lebron is trying to break up a 37 win team for what reason?

And there's no reason for New Orleans to trade him to New York for nothing.

Yea regardless of pressure I can't see NO giving up Paul to NY just for a bag of magic beans, especially since it's reported that he wants to go there as well. If im NO in that case, I'd do everything in my power to try and get as much as I can from NY, or any other team on that reported list of teams he has.

You said "up and coming" how can someone be proven and up and coming at the same time? Up and coming means you aren't there yet. Or at least, that's how I interpret the phrase.

I'd say a dude that dropped 23 points in a quarter on LeBron's squad is a little better than fine. And being a good player the same position means there's no drop off when CP3 isn't playing. For the longest time the Hornets needed a backup, now they've got one that's already proven he can start and play effectively.

So Lebron is trying to break up a 37 win team for what reason?
Maybe because he doesn't give two-****s about New Orleans? And like Woj said, he might not want to look like the only superstar in his prime taking the proverbial easy way out.

I wouldn't call an expiring contract and young talent a bag of magic beans. But I do agree that we're not in as good a position as Portland is. They have better talent and if they combine Andre and Joel's contracts that's about $3m more in cap relief than Curry's alone.

All I'm saying is I can see Donnie offering our expendable pieces, but not all of our talent lumped together in one deal that trades away half the team that we just put together. If NO get's better offers for CP3 and Okafor....fine. If not and it comes down to what cap relief can they get along with cheap talent for CP3, that's where we're back in the discussion, and even then we can be beat out by another team.

I just don't see why we would have to give up everything that we just assembled and handcuff ourself going forward for one player and a huge contract that would be tough to offload. We just got done going through that for 2 years. I don't see why we would jump at the opportunity to put ourselves back in that situation when right now, if things stay as they are, we keep all of our talent and let Curry and Chandler walk for $14m in cap space and we'd still have a serviceable PG in Felton.

I meant magic beans in the sense that NO giving up CP for unproven players(talking about any team).

The Hornets are poised to transfer ownership to a billionare who doesn't need to make a dime from the Hornets.

None of those things will apply to us very soon.

1st you cant count rookies because nobody knows what they are going to give you.

Yeah but both of those are guards one being his back-up. We need big men. West is nice but doesnt have the length or athletism to protect the basket on defense. Defense still win championships.

It's interesting that a lot of people, or maybe it's just two, but I keep hearing about moving West for Gortat and the like.

Unfortunately, I know diddly and squat about him except he's got the size this team's needed and supposedly he's somewhat athletic.

As much as I like Gortat there is no way I'm trading an Allstar for a back-up. West is our most consistent scorer. But we could use his defense. Man why did they ever trade Tyson?
