Agreed I like Felton a ton, and I never really liked Gallo and Melo playing along side of each other.

The only way I will feel good about this , is if we have a strong chance of landing C.Paul. Chauncey has enough left to run the pg position for the Knicks by the time Paul becomes available.

CP3 has told friends and through back channels has let the Knicks know that if they land Melo he would take a discount to join in 2012

Of course he'll take a discount, the new CBA is going to make sure of that. He gonna take a discount on top of what's already gonna be a smaller deal? Doubt it. We'll see, but doubt it.

Come on now. You know he meant a discount from a max deal. He knows about this CBA issue and knows he wont be making 20 a year from the Knicks but the chance to play with NY and the other 2 is something to get excited about and he knows this

Not saying it will happen but I am confident it will lead to us having those 3 in 2012

He is going to have to take more than a discount. Unless he is willing to play for about what equals the MLE or less he isn't going to be there. Again it is pretty much a certainty that the cap will drop. Not to mention reports are saying that some owners are wanting a hard cap. If the Melo deal takes him to NY then in 2012 Melo and Stat alone will be making over 40 million dollars. If the cap is around 50 mil(it's 58 now) then the Knicks will only have around 10 million dollars to give out to at least 10 more players. It just isn't going to happen.

What you guys seem to not see is that the current deals will be rolled back from what the CBA will produce

I think he will be with the Knicks but we will see

Current deals might not be rolled back at all, that's part of the reason why Melo wants an extension now. Also remember that owners are also gunning to make it near impossible to create 3 star teams with the new CBA.

So I gotta agree with the other guys, it's highly unlikely.

Anyway I'm going to continue picking at little rumours with Melo. Latest one says that if NY refuses to include Mozgov in the trade, the Nuggets will trade Melo to the Nets (depending if he signs that extension).

Now I'm not going to pretend to be hip to the numbers of the new CBA and everything it will entail, but please explain to me and help me understand exactly how they're going to roll back contracts from a previous deal. The union will not piss on current deals and **** players twice with this thing. Beyond that, why the hell would Carmelo signing a 65 million dollar extension be such an important piece of this whole ridiculous saga if he's somehow not gonna get that 65 mil cause of a rolled back contract anyway? Current deals should be well protected under this new CBA.

You know nothing about the CBA so I suggest you stop.
With the new CBA and having two players making over 20 mill you won't be able to get a reasonable talent around you.
If the Knicks get Melo its impossible for them to get D Will or Paul.
& if the Knicks add Mozgov to trade & gut their roster I think their stupid.
Thats why D'Antoni & Walsh are against it.

Reggie said the samething on how its gonna be hard for them with Melo.

Kinda related to this, what happens with like the Miami Heat if all of a sudden they're over the cap just counting LeBron, Wade, and Bosh's contracts?

There will probably always be a way for teams to go over the cap (I don't think a hard cap is likely, too many top tier teams would get screwed in the long term), but if the MLE is lowered or eliminated Miami will have a hard time filling out that bench. If the MLE sticks in it's current form Miami should be fine.

Anthony himself said he "didn't give anybody a definitive answer." He said the Nuggets "have been knowing since day one" where he'd sign.

If we are to take Melo at his word that the Nuggets know where he will and won't sign, then the Nuggets must think he will sign w/Jersey.
Nets wouldn't be in this madness if he didn't wanna sign here.

He doesn't or he would have already been there. He is keeping New Jersey alive as a last resort.

I'm pretty sure the Denver management knows that Melo wants that extension. That is why they keep driving the price up on the Knicks, because in the end I think they know that Melo will eventually OK an extension with the Nets out of desperation.

I think that is how it will play out.
