He would have been fine if he just followed LBJ's plan of saying, "I'm not going to sign an extension because I want to keep my options open," and then bailing as a FA. Instead he opened his mouth ten months too soon and created a giant mess.

I don't think he's getting traded before the season starts and I still maintain that he has all the leverage. He doesn't care about the CBA obviously, he'll still get paid handsomely. Denver may move him at the deadline for cheap just so they don't get burned as bad as CLE or TOR did but if Melo doesn't agree to an extension then Denver can kiss goodbye the hope of getting a nice package in return.

melo is smart he not going down brons path, he states he never asked for a trade and his keeping his plans open. Which mean's that cool if you dont want to trade me , but my *** in gone on 7/1/2011.

There stupied to get the clippers and warriors envolved if he not going to sign an ext with those teams. I really think he wants to be in NYC area , i think chicago was never really in his thoughts.

If he plays the season in denver he go to the knicks in the summer. There better off trading him and getting something or being like the cavs and get sh*t on.

I think if nuggets wait to long to move him there going to get less quality offers then they have know on the table.

"I would love them to wait , maybe the magic and send VC and the Deadline and rent Melo for the reminder of the season. And the nuggets buy vc and magic resign him, and make a run with them 2 on the team."

That is LBJ's path to a tee actually. He did smarten up and now he can walk as an FA and not screw his future destination by making them gut their roster to acquire him.

It's nine months early but ****ed it, welcome to the Knicks, Melo!

Who knows, there are different rumors about WWW every day.
Remember too, before "The Decision" Leborn had WWW removed from his group of people and gave Maverick Carter more of a voice in his decision-making process.

I dont understand why Denver is playing hardball. We have seen this play out this off-season and the franchises are the ones being burnt in the end. From my understanding Melo was orginally ok with the Nets deal ,but later changed his mind. The more they wait the less they will get in return for him if anything at all.

^ I think everything regarding Melo's feelings about the Nets deal were just bogus rumors. I don't know if he was ever okay with it, it doesn't sound like was or wasn't (though he clearly wasn't IMO otherwise he'd be there by now).

Well, it fits until you get to the part where he says "I'm gone". Instead, LeBron decided to keep this intrigue and screw the Cavaliers future over by being held hostage by LeBron.

True, something tells me I doubt we'll hear Melo saying "Denver still has the lead in this race" in mid-June.

I care to disagree. AK is an expiring contract, but also a guy who can be productive. Favors is a young guy with lots of potential. And those draft picks are 2 1st Rounders, both potentially lottery picks.

                          Bulls aren't offering Noah.
                          Clippers aren't offering Griffin.

Other teams with assets won't give them away for a one year rental.

Maybe next summer he can do a show on espn to could "made up my mind". And he can i will taking my talents to slients and then alice keys comes out sing "NEW YORK"!!!!!

Denver is being stupied and are going to hurt this season and off season. The longer they wait the worse its going to be.

Again, with the Bulls refusing to trade Noah, the Clippers refusing to trade Griffin, the Knicks' lack of draft picks, what other team can offer a better package without gutting half of their roster and get an assurance that it's not just for a one year rental?

The Sixers offered Iggy but there's REPORTS that he wouldn't sign an extension there so that ain't go far.

If they could get a better deal then why hasn't any other team jumped in if they can offer a better deal like you say they can get?

Melo should just wait. Getting traded to New York now would simply take away from what the team could be. Melo wants CP3 to go there with him next year...if they're going to gut the roster they will have to for CP3, not for Melo.

Knicks fans waited for the LeBron saga to come to an end, they can wait another year since there is real light at the end of this tunnel.
