Once again, I don't see Melo doing an extension with any of those teams off the bat, so why would a team dump what little future they have for a one year rental?

Seems about as unlikely as possible.
Well, if you read the other tweet he posted, he claims that Denver is basically trying to call Anthony's bluff. My take is they are fed up with WWW trying to strong arm them so they're saying, "fine, you want to be traded, we'll trade you to one of the three worst teams in the league and take what we can get from them". The tweet never said that Anthony would sign an extension, just that those are the team's DENVER is gunning for (and my guess is it's because of how all of this is shaking out).

This however, is not a punishment for Anthony as he'll happily sign an extension with NJ and they won't have to give up much to get him since they'll be bidding against teams that won't sell the farm for a 1 year rental.

Right, but for Denver to "call his bluff" they would need the other team to accept the trade.

I don't see GS, Charlotte, Minny or Sacramento giving up their farm system for a one year rental.

Oh, I don't either; which is why I hope they don't stick to those three teams. if they do, NJ will get him by offering just enough to beat out Minnesota and Sacramento (who will offer peanuts). NJ will then get him while keeping most the team in tact, and Melo happily signs the extension. The only people who get punished are Denver for limiting themselves to one team that Anthony will sign an extension for.

Anthony won't be unhappy until much later when he faces the Bulls, Heat, Celtics, and Magic in the finals... still, I'll be cheering for him.

I think these teams are only doing the trade if Melo signs an extension right after the trade (which I think he will.

Anyway, here's some more love for the Nets

o ok, then yeah we both are in concurrence

out of all the teams involved the rockets in my opinion are the only team I can see Melo resigning with.

It's been reported from multiple sources (see the original post) that Melo has stated he'd sign an extension with the Nets.

How could you think he wouldn't re-sign with that guy in your avatar?

As long as Denver throws in Lawson too I guess it'll be a for sure deal.

No doubt. Kahn's vision is one of having NBA rosters made up of only point guards and small forwards.

What's hilarious is that Minny actually drafted Lawson originally.

Eh, Newark ain't that bad. Besides, it's just the arena. The Rock is a thousand times better than the Izod Center.

The Barclays Center will be even better.

Couldn't choose a better title than The Carmelo Anthony Saga though?

And I don't mean to offend anyone when I say this but ya'll are smokin' some serious, SERIOUS Dope if you think we're going to give up Lopez, Favors AND more for Melo or even give up one of the two for him. I'd rather stand pat with what we got then give up either one of them since unless folks are that much comfortable with Johan Petro and Kris Humphries as your starting bigs?
