But still, it's the same point. You really think the Nuggets would swap Billups for James Jones or something? And if the Heat trade for a guy like Billups, all of a sudden they have Billups, Wade, and James all wanting the ball in their hand at the same time and then Bosh would get thrown to the curb too.

Maybe the Magic? I don't know really.

No way that happens. The only thing of value are the picks and they won't have that much value as they will be nothing but late 1st rounders.

Aren't most of their first rounders are in Cleveland and Toronto?

I believe so. How far ahead can you trade picks? It's a moot point anyway cause Billups WILL NOT end up in Miami, there's no way it could happen considering he's making 13 Mil this year and 14 next. Exactly how are they going to take on that contract?

Pretty sure the earliest Miami can trade a first rounder is 2019.

The Knicks and Nuggets have discussed several variations of trades that would include Eddy Curry's expiring contract, Danilo Gallinari and other pieces, including a No. 1 pick the Knicks are confident they can acquire from a third team through a trade.
If we could acquire Melo without losing Fields or Chandler I would be ecstatic. We cannot gut our team to acquire Melo.

That would be crazy if they could pull that off. If that's the case I'd change my mind and say the Knicks should do it.

Didn't Melo say he didn't want to go to a gutted team? He can't wait a few months since he's going to be there anyway.

EDIT: Here ya go ehh, from Alan Hahn's Twitter:

When I asked Wilson Chandler if he was offended to hear Denver say Knicks had nothing to offer, he said, “No, I don’t want to go to Denver.”

This is honestly a terrible situation for the Nuggets and I'm not even sure if Melo is being a bitch or trying to do a noble thing here. On the one hand he completely handicaps the Nuggets in that they pretty much can ONLY make a trade with the Knicks and take whatever package they put together just to make sure they get SOMETHING for him despite better deals being out there. Then he could be trying to be noble here because he's at least telling his intentions and willing to honor his contract where he'll just go to New York at the end of the year anyway. Crazy, screwed up situation.

As long as he keeps saying he's willing to play out the season in Denver, he's not doing anything wrong. If he starts whining and disrupting the team, trying to force a trade to the Knicks, then he is being a bitch.

At least Wilson controls his own fate a bit since he's an expiring as well. He would have to agree to sign an extension with Denver to be included in a trade so I'm sure he won't be dealt.

The new CBA could screw us with Wilson though assuming we get Melo, we might not be able to go over the cap to resign him anymore.

I still prefer the Nets deal, but Knicks deal isn't that bad.
