Well at least he's finally admitted himself that he has no intentions of going back to Denver after this year. Just hurry up and do the inevitable and trade him to NY.

Nah, King. He didn't have a 24pt/20 reb game vs. the Cavs last year. Nope that didn't happen at all.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Which is part of why I don't want anything to do with him at this point really. He knows he has no intention of staying so why deflect the issue and all this other crap since not signing the extension until after they're first game? These Team USA dudes is really pissing me off with basketball players right now.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
I also dont agree with the notion on the last couple of pages that rebounders are a dime a dozen. Thats not true to a high degree...not guys who can snatch up 20 rebounds and play stifling defense...
I wouldn't trade Noah to get Melo, although the Bulls still need that inside regardless when its said and done, they cant remain a purely preimeter team and expect to go to the next level.
Oh and sorry, but Luc Longely didnt get pushed around in the post like he was some kind of twig...same for Bill Cartwright.
They weren't great players but its a reason they were there, and why the Bulls defense remained Wholly bulldoggish all around.
Also: Dwight Howard.
If you're an Eastern Conference team, you need some way to neutralize him. You only know about his limited post game when a team has a big enough body to compete with him one on one. Most teams can't. If Chicago went small, they'd be one of those teams. Dwight is young. In NBA terms, he'll be doing his thing FOREVER. You can't have him grabbing all of the boards, blocking the shots and dunking all over your big men like he did to Cleveland and Atlanta. A mismatch against Dwight is disastrous and unrecoverable.
Remember, it's not just team building, it's also about matching up against the big threats in the league. You can't build your team in a vacuum like it's fantasy basketball. Chicago has competitive interior play and they need to keep it.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
Can someone tell me when did Melo become a defensive liability? OK, so he's not the greatest defender in the world BUT when did all of a sudden a D-Leaguer or someone off the street can bust 30 on Anthony? Can someone give me a consistent example? And I'm not looking for a highlight clip where he got dunked on because that can happen to anybody. NOR am I looking for box score where an all-star SF like LeBron James or Kevin Durrant busted 30 on him. They'll do that to anybody. Someone give me a concrete reason why Melo suddenly became a defensive liability?
Yes, rebounders aren't a dime a dozen. But elite scorers are even more rare.
And as far as Longely, I never said he was a pushover. He just never had much to do on defense because the front of the defense always had things on lock. I do remember him guarding Shaq one-on-one and Shaq abusing him. But hey, what can anyone do with Shaq? All I know is that Mark West could have been the staring center of those Bulls teams and they still would have won 6 titles.
I think I'm done with this topic because now we got people who just plain hate this guy. I'm not a big Melo fan BUT I know talent when I see it. It really gets ridiculous when someone is comparing Melo to Jamal Mashburn. That's when the discussion starts to get out of hand.

Nobody hates the guy and nobody is comparing him to Jamal Mashburn so stop with that mess just because folks don't think he's the god you paint him out to be.#RespectTheCultureComment

The Bulls with Melo are title contenders for years to come, without him they are playoff team and nothing more.Comment

We definitely agree here. There is a reason that he's only made it out of the 1st round once in his career and Denver has had some damn good lineups. You have to play on both sides of the court. Melo doesn't do that. That crap might fly in the Western Conf. I don't see much difference between Melo and a guy like Jamal Mashburn. Sure they can score, but they don't do much of anything else. If Melo was such a commodity, he'd be out of Denver by now. NBA GM's know what Melo is. That's why he is still in Denver. Unless your team is already set defensively, a guy like Melo isn't the greatest acquisition.
Regardless of that, there is legitimate discussion here and nobody hates Melo.
Where does Melo fit on the Bulls if they want to win a championship?Bears | Bulls | Cubs | Illinois | #Team3Some

I didn't take it as him comparing the two. I just thought he was using him as an example just like I did with Noah and Jahidi White. But that's just me#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
This. People take rebounding for granted, but there are only a few legitimately All Star level rebounders. People forget that you can make the All Star game by rebounding alone, but there are more skills in the game besides shooting.
Also: Dwight Howard.
If you're an Eastern Conference team, you need some way to neutralize him. You only know about his limited post game when a team has a big enough body to compete with him one on one. I feel like having a closer is being underrated.
Prime example was last night. OKC took control of the game after they shut down Rose. The Bulls had no one to turn to with the ball to make a big shot for them. To keep them in the game.
I don't care what no one says, Boozer is not going to be that guy. He is not a go to scorer.
At the end of close games, against staunch defenses, when teams are buckling down defensively, you need that guy who can get you a basket and keep you in the game offensively. As of right now, the Bulls don't have that. With Melo they would.
They had one field goal in the last 5 minutes before they were down ten. ONE.
They had no one to close the game.
This is going to be a recurring theme with this group now. Not being able to close out games consistently. Especially against the elite teams. This becomes even more important when you are playing on the road.
The Lakers have Kobe
The Celts have Pierce
The Heat have Wade and LeBron
The Mavs have Dirk
The Thunder have Durant
The Spurs have Ginobli and Duncan
If you want to be an elite team, you have to have that guy to close out tough games. That guy can be Melo. He is exactly what you want in a closer...
- The ability to score virtually anywhere on the floor, making it tough on the defense to keep him out of good scoring position.
- The ability to get to the line and makes free throws. Crucial when shots aren't falling and the game is close.
- Being an excellent one on one player. For when nothing else is working for the team offensively.
- The ability to take and make big shots down the stretch. It's nice to have someone you can trust to deliver when his number is called.
- The ability to knock down tough shots with great defense. Role players are going to struggle against good defense, so this is needed.
Without having someone who can do these things, a team is going to lose a lot of close games, just like the Bulls did last night. Especially in the playoffs and on the road. Melo brings all of this to the table. The perfect closer.
Without having a guy to close out games, the Bulls are not going to be an elite team and they are not going anywhere in the playoffs when a go to guy is needed.Comment

Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga
There's a few double double machines. Far more than there are players of Melo's caliber. I personally think it'll be pretty funny when Melo goes to New York, followed by Chris Paul(potentially), and they consistently challenge for the eastern conference title while the Bulls annually get bounced in the 2nd round.Comment
