I would have thought they would want to hold onto that.
It is a brilliant move by T-Wolves

They get a 22 year old in Randolph who makes little and might turn out to be better then Beasley

But they know that next years draft class is not looking like a deep pool at all and they can use that money to resign Love

That would be absolutely amazing for the Knicks. If that trade happens.....I don't know what I would do.

I'm with THAT Guy. No idea why Minny would give up Brewer and a first for basically Anthony Randolph. He's still young yes, but that's way too much for a player that hasn't panned out for two teams. They also don't need the cap relief that much, they already have some of the lowest salaries in the league. Why trade away the first with Brewer to end up paying more money this year with Curry and Randolph?

If Minny was only giving up a first for Randolph I can understand, but paired with Brewer makes no sense to me.

Edit: Forgot their GM is Kahn. Whatever.

If all we lose is chandler randolph and curry, you must take this trade. But I wouldnt be surprised to see more names being dragged into the trade if indeed it happens. Fields and Gallo should have their bags packed cuz one has to go.

Good thing you are not the Knicks GM

Why would the Knicks trade any value to Denver when Melo only wants the Knicks and the Knicks can sign him as a FA this July.

The Knicks are not going to give up Gallo or Landry...

The Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks are discussing a three-team trade that would make forward Carmelo Anthony a Knick before the Feb. 24 trade deadline, according to league sources.

In the proposed trade, New York would send Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry to Minnesota and the Timberwolves would send Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to Denver. Denver would also receive Wilson Chandler from New York.

The deal is not expected to happen until the middle of next week at the earliest, and one source said it could drag out until the trade deadline. Denver, which has been exchanging proposals with the Knicks for the past couple weeks, is weighing other options.

With teams aware of Anthony's desire to play in New York, the Nuggets' choices are limited. With little chance of signing Anthony long-term, few clubs are willing to send valuable assets to Denver.

If the trade with New York and Minnesota goes through, Anthony would be in line to receive a three-year, $65 million contract extension as part of the agreement in what is known as an extend-and-trade.

Since Anthony's preference to play for New York is known, there is some sentiment within the Knicks organization to hold off on trading for him and wait until he becomes a free agent this summer. Such a move would enable them to keep their young assets.

But owner James Dolan has been pressing team president Donnie Walsh to trade for Anthony before the deadline, according to sources.

"Dolan is really pressuring Walsh to get Melo, but Denver has been vacillating back and forth," one of the sources said.

A trade to New York would end the season-long saga that began last summer when Anthony refused to sign the contract extension with the Nuggets.

Late in the preseason, reports of a potential four-team deal with New Jersey, Utah and Charlotte that would make Anthony a Net surfaced.

But league sources say the deal was overblown and New Jersey was actually leaking the story in an effort to pressure Denver's new front office regime of Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri into making a deal.

Last month, reports of another potential trade of Anthony to New Jersey surfaced, this time involving the Detroit Pistons. That deal was close to being agreed upon, but Anthony was reluctant to sign the three-year, $65 million extension with New Jersey.

Anthony agreed to meet with the Nets but owner Mikhail Prokhorov called off his club's pursuit of Anthony in a news conference a day before the scheduled sit-down was to take place.

Great deal for Minny and NY, but I can't see Denver accepting this unless they get down to trade deadline day and this is the best offer they have.</object>

Last time i trusted Knicks GMs we ended up watching a man take his talents to florida. Carmelo to NY is far from a guarantee in free agency this summer, a knicks fan should know this far too well.

Trade Chandler who wouldn't return anyway, a bum in Curry lets not argue that, and Randolph who really hasnt done a damn thing in the league.

I think he was more talking about trading Gallinari or Fields. I agree with him that it wouldn't be smart to deal them when they don't have to lose them.

The other guys you mentioned could all go though.

Oh I see. I had a case of selective vision there. And yeah I wouldnt want Gallo, or Fields going anywhere, but I wouldnt be surprised to see one go.

I still dont think Carmelo to the Knicks in summertime fun is as automatic as we fans might think.

You are 100% right. As much as I love Chandler that trade has to go down.

                          Great deal for Minny
                          How?

Minny gives up Brewer (who should have more value than Randolph), cap space (easier to work with than an expiring contract), and a late first for Anthony Randolph (who sucks).

The Wolves get ripped in this trade.

NY gets a Gasol-to-LA type of deal if this goes through. All they have to give up is Chandler to get a top ten player? Ehh.

Now I am sure that you are just talking without knowing anything. "The last time you trusted a Knick GM"

That tells me all i need to know about what you know about the Knicks

Donnie Walsh has been a god send and has done what Isiah and the fool before him could not do and that is bring the Knicks under the cap.

So James did not come to the Knicks, guess what he was never going to because he and the other 2 sorted this out 3 years ago.

The Melo love for the Knicks is different and people in the know here in NY who are close to his reps say he wants NY with Stat in the worst way.

I rather take my chances in the summer then giving up Gallo and Fields or either one.

If Melo does not sign with us in the summer then we move on and try and use those pieces to trade for a big guy like Marc Gasol or Jordan

Only a delusional GM or you would give up anything more then what is being mentioned.

2 months to go before the year is over and we can have a great shot at signing him and keeping Fields and Gallo who we can either use to trade for a big or keep to make the team that much better

The Nuggets screwed this up by dragging it out this long and losing the leverage

The closer the 24th of this month comes the less they will get in return.

                            Is simple

Definitely would be a Gasol-level trade. I'm skeptical, it's too good to be true - even for a rumor.

Anything can happen in the off season. With this new CBA looming, Free Agency is going to be less predictable. In a perfect world NY gets Melo for nothing.

If NY can get MELO for Chandler, pull the trigger. Chandler will never be MELO.

If Melo joined this current roster, he'd be eating Gallo, Chandler, and Williams minutes anyway.

And dont tell me the Knicks win a ring w/ Gallo or Chandler at the 4 or the 2.
