Josh and a pre knee injury Amare are similar levels of athlete but you also have to remember Blake is bigger than both of them. He is a legit 250 to 260 pounds and gets off the ground like a guard.
I mean, Blake has superior bunnies than Odom; But at 6'11 Odom can dribble, create his own shot, run the floor as good as any big in the league, has great body control, good lateral quickness, etc. How is he not a premier athlete at the 4?

Blake is only 10lbs heavier than both Amare and Josh Smith, and Josh can jump with anybody in the league.

Phoenix also had shooters, slashers and finishers.

Nash has been horrible this year as a closer....his talent around him is a lot less. No more Amare.....

          Dribble = Skill
          Create shot = Skill
          Body Control = Skill
Lateral Quickness = Athleticism (Odom isn't that quick laterally. He gets abused defensively against face up players, his length makes up for it).

Odom is probably the most skilled 4 in the league. Average athlete. I always thought Odom was more of Toni Kukoc type of highly skilled 4.

Calderon and Barbosa are fun to watch. I really like this Raptors team. It is like a pick up team on the NBA court.

Man, I literally slept on a bunch of good games tonight. I was way too tired today and ended up missing Chicago and Boston in OT and the Hornets pulling the upset on Miami. ****.

Toronto is even giving the Lakers a good game.

I'd mark body control down as athleticism, same with the ability to create your own shot. But maybe that's just me.

And I'd say Gasol is the most skilled 4 in the league.

What does that have to do with Phoenix's ability to score in close games?

Hey, if the Bulls want to get bounced in the first round of the playoffs every year but maybe one when they make the second, they should pick up Melo, right? Because that's how things work in the league.

You asked what the issue is with PG's being closers, and used Phoenix as an example(Neglecting the fact that they had Amare, Marion, etc). I merely pointed out that Phoenix never reached the finals. I assume toe Bulls goal is to win it all, thus, it was a poor comparison.

Teams with an elite PG, Scorer/Closer, and good to great big man/men aren't successful?

Shawn Marion. Amare (ever see that slip pick they ran about a million times). Grant Hill. Even Jason Richardson moves well without the ball.

So then Carmelo was going to basically make every basket he took down the stretch for Chicago? They were trading baskets down the stretch, most of the big Boston baskets came from defensive breakdowns on the Bulls part. Was Melo's newfound super defense going to change that?

Ball handling and creating a shot are skills not athletic ability. You can be a horrible athlete and still handle the ball well and create shots. Yes Odom can run the floor and all that but he is not anywhere near the athlete Blake is. Blake has superior speed, quickness, leaping ability, and strength. Basically all the main attributes of athletism.

I said Josh and Amare was in the same class of athlete and just pointed out that Blake was bigger than the both of them. Blake is listed as 251 but I have heard multiple people say he is more around 260. More size is more size regardless of it is 10 or 20 pounds. If you go back to their pre draft numbers all three guys athletic numbers are pretty much the same except Josh having the highest max vert and Blake doubling them both up in the bench press. But the biggest difference was Blake was at 248 pounds to Amare's 233 and Josh's 222. So again Blake has always been the biggest of the three guys.

So now Shawn Marion was a slasher and scorer/closer? Okay.

People will say anything for the sake of supporting their arguments. Gosh darn.

Don't get me wrong, I like Marion, and he was a great defender (great), but he was not a slasher by any means and certainly not a scorer/closer.

And J-Rich was not on those good Phoenix teams.
