What did he accomplish? He scored a lot of points.

That team was dreadful to watch.

I like Durant but if you haven't noticed from my posts I am not giving this kid anything until he earns it. Win a playoff series. Win a title. Win.

FIBA isn't much of anything IMO. Different game than the NBA.

I have never discredited Durants talent. Just whether it equates to winning.

From BleacherReport.com, your destination for the latest news on your teams and topics in sports.

Westbrook is averaging 23.8 points per game on a career-high 44.7% from the field.

The real reason for his scoring prowess has been his ability to get to the free throw line. So far this year, a quarter of the way through the season, Westbrook has forced his way to the charity stripe 9.2 times per game.

That's Dwight Howard territory right there.

He's also making 8.2 of those attempts per game, leaving him shooting 88.6% from the line, which is definitely not Dwight Howard territory.

One area of his game that still needs improvement is his three-point shooting. Westbrook is making 0.3 threes a game on 28.6% shooting.
Monday night’s win over the Hornets showed why Russell Westbrook, not Kevin Durant, has been the best player on the Oklahoma City Thunder this season. Also, we discuss why Miami’s problems aren’t solved by one win over Washington.

Here's a controversial, yet true statement: Russell Westbrook, not Kevin Durant has been the best player on the Oklahoma City Thunder this year. Coming into Monday night's game against the Hornets, Westbrook was putting up the following stat line:

23.8 points, 8.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game
      A PER of 25.9
A true shooting percentage (which encompasses threes and free throws) of 56 percent, which is insanely high for a guard ending over 30 percent of his team's possessions.
An assist percentage (i.e. the percentage of team possessions that end with a Westbrook assist when he's on the floor) of 42.4 percent
A turnover percentage of just 14.7, which is also excellent for a guy using as many possessions as he has.
      Elite defense
Then, he outplayed Chris Paul down the stretch, igniting the Thunder on a 13-0 late fourth-quarter run to steal a game the Hornets led throughout. Down the stretch, it was Durant deferring to Westbrook, not the other way around.

MVP candidates love them those triple-OT opportunities. Against New Jersey, 21 of Westbrook's 38 points came after regulation, including all 13 of the Thunder's points in the third overtime. Also getting 15 points and nine assists, he became only the sixth player in the last 20 years to have a game of at least 35 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists.

Re: OKC: Who is their best player?

Yeah, westbrook has been playing better than durant, but durant has also been exhausted from a full calendar year of basketball. If you had to pick one for your team, then I would pick durant. hey, maybe if westbrook and durant keep up their paces, then westbrook will be the best player, but until that happens durant is better.

I think people are making excuses because they love Durant.

Westbrook has been their best player this year, better than Durant has ever played.

I think some people are making much ado about nothing.

Durant is still leading the league in scoring...

Just because Westbrook is having a breakout year doesn't mean he's their best player. Point blank.

I still think KD is their best player (my fav player), but I also think Westbrook is improving his game. Hes averaging career high in points, rebs and assists. He has got a few near triple doubles this season. KD was on a shooting slump early this season, but I think he has found his stroke back

For most folks, scoring is all that really matters. As long as Durant scores more, he's going to get the perceptional benefit of the doubt over Westbrook.

Ask every single GM in the league HM and let them tell you who OKC's best player is or who they would rather have.

Westbrook really is just an average PG in my eyes.. He plays more like a SG.. I don't even know how anyone could say Durant isn't there best player.

                                Truth.

Strange that the one that leads the team, is putting up beastly numbers, kept the team winning even with Durant out, and who most will admit is playing better, can't possibly be the best player.
