What's wrong with the Knicks?
Besides not getting Melo yet, and CP3 seemingly happy in NO at the moment, I thought at least we would be a .500 team until those additions were made, deep down I don't like the D'antoni system, even though it worked for a while with the Suns, but the lack of Defense will keep you in the lottery as far as I'm concerned, thoughts?I may be wrong, but I doubt it.Tags: None -
Re: What's wrong with the KNICKS?
1. It's still the third week of the season
2. The team really isn't all that better than .500 anyway [I'd say their ceiling coming in to the season was 40 games], even with the additions, therefore the slow start should not be surprising
3. Players look absolutely lackadaisical and unfocused and undisciplined on both sides of the floor. Seems like a coaching deficiency
4. Don't compare these scrub Knick players to D'AnPhony's super PHX teams of the past. Just don't
5. When every starter in your starting 5 can't defend your average YMCA rec league player, you're gonna have trouble
6. When your coach allows you to chuck three's [2nd highest attempts in the league] with the personnel you have [23rd ranked team in 3 point %] on a team that has no regard for defense, you're gonna have trouble
Bottom line: they are who we thought they were. They have nobody to help Amare out offensively, and certainly don't have the personnel to defend any team on a consistent basis. They're trash. -

They aren't a good team.
I don't know why people thought the Lee for Amare switch (plus Randolph who has never done anything) would result in a couple dozen more wins. They tanked for Lebron, Wade, Bosh, and possibly 1 or 2 of them and Amare. They lost.Comment

Re: What's wrong with the KNICKS?
They're still perfectly on pace to achieve what should be expected of them: 7th or 8th seed.
Nobody should have expected anything more than that. They don't have anyone who can create their own offense, you never know what you're gonna get out of Chandler/Gallo, and Felton is pretty meh as a starting point guard. In fact 4/5 of their starting lineup is just overall meh.
They have no true center and their best player is dependent upon others for him to flourish. Not a good formula for much else than a 40 win season.
Oh, and their coach being a terrible match for that roster doesn't help either.Comment

Re: What's wrong with the KNICKS?
They don't have the ideal components for what D'Antoni wants to do, so its not going to exactly work like Phoenix until he gets those piecesComment

Re: What's wrong with the KNICKS?
It comes down to predictability and the inability for anyone on their roster to be dynamic on offense. We all know it's going to be a PnR with Felton/Amare. Opposition is able to force Amare out of position and catches the ball way too far from the basket.
Chandler is probably a legit starter but he just doesn't cut it in terms of carrying the creativity load as a wing.
Gallo and Fleton are probably a legit starters but they're both extremely predictable.
Landry, I like that kid. Still he's only a rookie.
Amare suffers due to all of that.
On defense, it's the same old story with that coach and that cast of characters.Comment

I'd rather watch the Nets - at least they play with heart. Mike D'Anfoni is a joke.

Re: What's wrong with the KNICKS?
A great example is yesterday. AR comes into the game. 1st hit's a 16 ft jumper, then throws it down on a fast break. Grabs a couple of rebounds & also gets a block. Instead of keeping him in the game, he pulls him to go SMALL.
This fixation Pringles has on Small Ball is killing us. We have some pretty good size. We could be causing some match-up problems with our size, but Pringles just doesn't get-it.
We need JVG back running $#!T...Comment
