    I want to start this by saying I do not know the ins and outs of basketball as much as I'd like to believe I do w/ other sports, and consider myself a very casual fan. I had this idea the other day and wondered if this could work or why I wouldn't;

    What about a trade of Dwight Howard for LBJ? Can you say LBJ would be more effective inside than Howard creating more floor space for the 3's on the magic? DWade can really be the number one go to guy and you have more defined roles of that big 3.

    Just a thought and wanted to hear opinions on it.

      It was something that was thrown around a bit last year. But no. Lebron is probably the best player in the world. They aren't trading him.

        A source close to Orlando Magic All-Star Dwight Howard said Wednesday that he still loves Orlando and isn't seeking a trade.

        In an interview with WESH 2 News sports anchor Larry Ridley, the source said Howard is bothered by the hit his image has taken since this season's trade rumors and problems with Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy.

        The source said Howard is "hurt by all the negativity surrounding him (and) doesn't understand why he's blamed for everything that happens inside the (Magic) organization."

        Howard is continuing his rehabilitation in Los Angeles, and the source said he's waiting to see how the Magic improves.

            It's all hearsay at this point. Since Dwight signed the extension, we haven't had anything definitively reported about any of this. For every negative thing, there's something directly contradicting it, and vice-versa.

              Including denying asking for Stan to be let go, only for Stan himself to confirm it

                So anything that comes from Stan Van Gundy and anonymous sources that say bad stuff about Dwight is gospel, but anything said by Dwight, ownership, management, and the anonymous sources who refute the other anonymous sources is full of it?

                  One thing's for certain and that there is a difference between how Deron handles stuff like this and how Duhwight handles it. I mean a BIG difference and why? Because unlike Duhwight, he chose to put a stop to ALL of this before it became a story.

                  Until he signs that extension, he needs to realize none of this is going away and he(nor do his supporters)have anyone to blame.

                    I agree that Deron has handled it the right way (after handling himself very much the wrong way in Utah at times). But so did LeBron, and he's the most hated figure in the league. Dwight handled it pretty much the same way as Melo. The big difference is Dwight wavered in whether he wanted to leave, and Melo never did. And the Nuggets are a much tighter organization than the Magic.

                        He flip flopped once. And until there is a source that isn't 1) anonymous, and 2) refuted by another source, I'm not necessarily taking it at face value that he wants out again. I'm also not going to take it at face value that he's fully committed to staying. Orlando's management sucks. If there's anything clear out of it, it's that. And I'm not saying based on personnel moves. I'm saying based on the number of "sources" throughout that team. When have you ever heard this many conflicting stories within an organization? I don't believe a thing that's coming out of there right now.

                        Here's what we know. Dwight asked for a trade. I agree that that isn't the way to handle it. I believe you should play out your contract. We also know that he changed his mind around the deadline and signed a waiver. That's it. Everything else is speculation. The only sources who haven't been anonymous have been Van Gundy and Smith. And honestly, if the reports of him wanting both of them out were true, why did Smith repeatedly deny it was true, even though he ended up getting canned too?

                        I'm not saying Dwight is blameless by any means. But management is every bit as much to blame in all this. They've flip flopped just as much, if not more, on whether they want to keep or trade Dwight. But every time something is posted that says Dwight wants out, everybody takes it at face value, but if something refuting it is put out there, it's rubbish. Every single thing that's put out there (especially in this internet age where reporters barely, if at all, check their sources) is a half truth at best.

                            They shopped him before the season when he asked for a trade, and then decided against it. They did it again at the trading deadline, and decided against it. And they're shopping him again now. The deals aren't going to get any better. In fact, their offer from the Nets isn't going to be as good, since they traded that pick away. They haven't been able to decide if they want to trade him and get picks, or roll the dice and bank on him not wanting to be the bad guy that leaves the team that drafted him. I'm not saying the team doesn't have perfectly good reasons for having a change of heart so many times. But it seems extremely lopsided to crucify Dwight and not the team, as they could have ended all this at any time by trading him.

                              You serious right now dude? They shopped Dwight but because they haven't traded him means they're flip flopping on whether or not they want to keep him? GTFOH with that nonsense. Far be it for me to defend Orlando's dumb asses in this mess, but they have made it clear from the start that they WANT Dwight there in Orlando, that is the one and only unchanging FACT of this story. It would be stupid of Orlando to not start gauging what other teams are willing to give up for Dwight when dude has made it clear he doesn't want to be there anymore.

                                well yeah he wanted traded, he said that and they shopped him. After all the mess, he got his coach fired ( yea trade him to me on my charlotte bobcats 2k12 franchise Ill take him lol) so yeah they want him and Stan set him up in the infamous interview so we see who won that. Can't believe Dwight asked for Van Gundy to be fired though, pisses me off.
