I'm pretty sure I've said in several posts that Dwight has flip-flopped too. And that I didn't really agree with Dwight asking for a trade (though I get why he did it). But people seem to want to exaggerate it all. I've said it before, my point isn't that Dwight is innocent. My point has been that it takes two to make these kind of mistakes. The Magic could've taken one of two approaches before the season. They could have taken the New Orleans Hornets approach, and trade him, and get what they could and be done with it. Or, they could've taken the Cavs approach, announce they weren't going to trade him this season, and deal with all this in the offseason, when they can offer Dwight $30 million more than anyone else. But they didn't do either. They sat on the fence. They're still sitting on the fence.
Dwight could've also handled it better, don't get me wrong. A public trade request is almost never the right way to go. And the leaks on his end, just like the leaks on the Magic end, have been ridiculous. But I really don't see how anything he did is making him one of the most hated guys in the league.
