Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
Thing is I don't think it's quite as black and white as everyone flops. Technically that is the case, but it's like a action and reaction type of thing. There are guys/teams in the league that are not floppers. They don't go into the game looking to flop, they'll go through a full game without flopping, but then they play that jerk team that's full of floppers or at least has a flopping all-star on it and they in turn resort to flopping because they feel they aren't going to get any calls if they don't. Really it all boils down to the refs. You could cut down on it a lot if they didn't keep rewarding that nonsense.Comment

Well I'm sure you could blame something or another for why everyone flops....but at the end of the day, Dirk is on that list....Last edited by The 24th Letter; 03-18-2012, 11:42 AM.Comment

No one, I repeat NO ONE will ever be a greater flopper than the greatest flopper of all time.

Great article from back in 06 about flopping...

I realize this is the Dwight thread but it devolved into a flopping discussion so I thought I'd contribute, my apologies.Comment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
Is it really too much to have Duhwight average 28-15 like Shaq says, considering the quality of Centers he deals with compared to who Shaq went up?
He already makes 10 trips to the FT Line, so you figure he has to make AT LEAST 1 of those and then make 3 more shots(which we assume will be within 6-8 ft of the Basket and would either be dunk, putback or alley oop or even his "patented hook shot")then 7 pts per quarter and 3-4 rebounds per quarter really shouldn't be out of the question for a guy of Duhwight's caliber.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
As I stated with Howard, you throw him in the 1995 season and he doesn't even make the all-star team in the East. He's not beating out Shaq, Ewing nor Mourning. MAYBE, he could make the West squad because he might have a chance to beat out Mutumbo. BUT he'd still be a distant 3rd behind Olajuwon and Robinson.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
Well Dwight doesnt have Ewing or Shaqs talent, those are two HOFs, so I don't know that its saying anything to put them ahead of him in the ASG.
As far as Zo, they pretty much got their points the same way.....I could definitely see him out performing ZoComment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
Dwight needs more shots to get those kind of numbers. Shaq in his prime tooke between 18 and 20 shots a game. Dwight takes less than 14. If he could take 5 more shots a game, he's probably up to 27 ppg. And if he wasn't having a career low in FT %, there's another ppg. I don't think it's unrealistic for Dwight to be a 28 ppg scorer. I think the ability is there. But for whatever reason, when you watch the Magic, they don't really go through him. His offense has come a long way, and he's got some pretty impressive post moves now.Comment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
If he wasn't a piss poor FT shooter, he could definitely average 28 PPG, even if he was getting the same amount of touches he gets now.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
He would still need more shots to average 28 a night. Even if he was Mark Price from the line that would still only put him at 25 a night. It's damn near impossible to average 28 a game with only 14 shots a night and that even with attempting 10 free throws a game.Comment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
How many more touches would he need to get 7 pts per quarter though?#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?
Some numbers that stand out.
28 pts 11/16 6/10 FT
23 pts 8/14 7/10 FT
22 pts 9/16 4/10 FT
24 pts 9/13 6/18 FT
30 pts 11/14 8/12 FT
28 pts 11/17 6/14 FT
26 pts 8/12 10/14 FT
He most certainly could average 28 without more shots. He's gotta get his *** in gear at the free throw line however.Comment

Dwight Howard game log for 2012
Some numbers that stand out.
28 pts 11/16 6/10 FT
23 pts 8/14 7/10 FT
22 pts 9/16 4/10 FT
24 pts 9/13 6/18 FT
30 pts 11/14 8/12 FT
28 pts 11/17 6/14 FT
26 pts 8/12 10/14 FT
He most certainly could average 28 without more shots. He's gotta get his *** in gear at the free throw line however.
Even in these hand picked games he was under 28 he was at 25. He shot an out of this world 66 percent from the field and 53 from the line. Even if he made 10 more free throws and upped that free throw percentage to 65 he still would only be at 27. So even then he would have to have the highest FG percentage of the last 30 years and the fourth highest ever just to get to 27 a night on those few of shots. That is even with him shooting 65 percent from the line. It's just not possible without more shots.
Just to throw it out there Charles Barkley is the only player in NBA history to average 28 a night on less than 18 shots a game. Even then he got over 16 a night and shot over 75 percent from the line.Comment
