Nobody has anything locked up right now in March as far as MVP goes and Amar'e is playing exactly the same as he was in Phoenix but the only difference is he has the NY Media to pump up the "Ama're for MVP" train up.

Wasn't he hyped up down the stretch last year as a MVP dark horse? Didn't he flat out dominate the last month of the season or something?

Oh get outta here with this man. I find stuff like this funny - when it comes to Free Agency - every market is just as comparable to NYC. Chicago/Miami/LA blah blah blah. NY Media isn't a big deal "with the internet."

Now, it's the only reason he's being considered.

He's play the best on a team that is doing well. He's playing more minutes thus producing more. Do I consider him the league's MVP? No. But don't shortchange the guy man... please.

As far as the league's MVP, it HAS TO be D.Rose. Without a doubt he's the front-runner right now. But that is RIGHT NOW...

I hope it stays that way. He's a solid guy. Deserves it.

Yea, I really hope you don't believe that LOL.

But I have no reason to short change ANYBODY my man, especially him. Just calling it like it is. What is he doing this year any differently than what he was doing last year? He's been ballin' this year don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he's some scrub or whatever but other than playing in NY, what's the difference in his play? I mean if you or anybody else wanna say he's a "Top 5-6 MVP Candidate" then go ahead. Just isn't saying much IMO.

Here’s the thing about Stoudemire — he’s the same player now he was in Phoenix. The numbers are close. Go ahead and point out he is scoring three more points per game than he was in Phoenix and I’ll note his shooting percentage — traditional and true shooting percentage — is down. Yes, he’s scoring three more points per game but he’s taking four more shots to do it.

Spare me the “defenses are focusing on him now” bit — if you think that defenses didn’t plan for him in Phoenix, you didn’t watch any of their games.

Which is kind of the point — Stoudemire was great in Phoenix but never got credit because people weren’t watching and too many of those that were became captivated by Steve Nash. Again, not to bash Nash, but he drew some of the attention that rightfully belonged to Stoudemire. Now, Stoudemire is getting that adulation on the big stage.

He has lifted the Knicks up to… average. The Knicks are not a good team folks, they’re just no longer craptastic. Credit Stoudemire for that — but that is very different than the MVP discussion. And you’d be shortchanging Raymond Felton. The truth of the campaign is that Stoudemire is New York’s favorite son and so all these Knick fans — including my bosses, so enjoy this column because I am biting the hand that feeds me — think he is now deserving of the league’s highest honors. No. He didn’t change, the Knicks changed a little with him and Felton. Stoudemire is not even having his best season (07-08).

I'm talking about when we comparing locales during the Lebron debacle - everyone was saying the NYC media wasn't a factor and I find it funny that someone is using that as reason now to slight him.

MVP is just that - MOST valuable player. I won't say that is STAT in the league. But to short change him and say he's just the same guy from Phoenix... is partly a lie. Watch the impact he's had on Knicks WITHOUT one of the best PG's in the game and no solid 2nd scoring option until the Carmelo trade...

He practically carried that team the first half of the season.

I honestly agree with you and Pack at the same time.

Amare isn't the same guy he was in PHX, he's been pretty much the sole focus of defenses, and is putting up the same and better numbers. His support hasn't been all that great, although not terrible.

However when people try to put him into the MVP discussion, now that's where I draw the line. He's in the top 6-9... so I apologize if I'm short changing him. haha

Yea that was my favorite play from sunday... Pretty sick... shows a lot of awareness... But the best part about the play in my opinion. Is seeing all the red jersey after. That shows hustle right there. Even if Rose would have missed. One of those guys would have followed his miss.

I don't think he necessarily has to fall off. Dwight can sneak in there if he keeps playing at the pace that he is. I just don't think he will outplay DR.

If Orlando doesn't finish in the top 3 then he won't get the votes although he is just as deserving as D. Rose IMO. He has carried that team on his back just like Rose has. But I D. Rose so for me of course it's D. Rose all day.

Like I said before a lot of people are in the "talks" for MVP. You can like one guy more than another guy. But at the end of the day their team records/ playoff seeding are going to be part of the reason they win.
