Re: Who is your NBA MVP as of right now?

    I think Kings mad.

Lets face it. The Bulls aren't some underdog team that have suddenly come out of nowhere to grab some media attention. They've been getting pimped, and it's obvious as all hell that D-Rose is their darling this season. That doesn't necessarily mean he isn't deserving, only that other candidates that are equally qualified haven't gotten much face time.

Other candidates(and I'm assuming you're talking about SERIOUS candidates and not just someone who got hot for 2-3 weeks and then disappeared)have gotten equal face time as Rose? Nah can't agree with that one

No one said that. That there is your own wording, and or failed interpretation.

Then no people weren't firmly entrenched on the Bulls bandwagon and driving the Rose is a lock for MVP train until sometime after the ASB. Before that, it was still just talking about 'hey the Bulls are a cute little team' 'it's a surprise to see this team playing like this so Rose has as good a case as anyone but it's a long way to go in this race' type of talk. Once they took it to a fully healthy Heat team, then the Bulls were considered serious contenders. Before the ASB most guys were still talking about them more than likely losing in the second round or at most making it to the ECF and getting spanked by the Heat or C's.
Is that supposed to be prove the Bulls were underdogs or something?

The ____ you talking about? I'm not trying to prove the Bulls were underdogs. I don't even consider them underdogs. This conversation doesn't have anything to do with the Bulls being underdogs or not. I see you were the one who said the media gifted him the award though. Cool.

So what exactly are you trying to prove? I said the media has been pimping D-Rose, he's the medias choice, and that other qualified prospects have been ignored because of it. Banter sparked from these comments, you were one of the participants.

So... I guess I don't see your point?

Go back and read it for yourself. You sound completely ridiculous saying that other candidates for the award have been ignored because of Rose. I'm not even gonna continue to have this discussion with you if you're gonna ignore other people's posts and keeping spitting out stuff like that.

So you're mad because some else opinion differs from your own, and or isn't coddling your favorite team and player?

The truth hurts. Other candidates have taken the back seat in MVP consideration due to the media pimping Rose. You can run from it, you can deny it, you can get upset about it, etc. Doesn't much matter to me either way. The validity is there, whether or not you choose to accept it is on you.

And for what it's worth; in my opinion, the two players that have been affected most by the D-Rose sensationalism, are Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard. You can throw Dirk in there to.

Edit: As we banter, there's an article posted on ESPN about this very topic.

I don't understand the argument here. Rose is the best player on one of the best teams, has improved his game and few people believe he has the supporting cast of the Hear, Lakers, Celtics or Spurs' MVP candidates. Covering that doesn't make him a "darling", that's just no brained sports reporting. On top of that the bulls have been the most consistent team in the league. The Heat are still receiving the bulk of the NBA coverage.

That having been said, I think the recent past of having to be at or near first place has altered the discussion. Dwight is most important to his team. He has no current all star level players on his team and had to deal with lineup changes. Add in the fact that he's the best offensive player, defensive player and rebounder on his team by a wide margin and he is easily the most irreplaceable player in the league. Kobe and Lebron have no case IMO. They ate great players on great teams, but they aren't putting in superlative seasons at all. Durant has been inconsistent. Dirk and the Mavs haven't been the same since his injury. So it's really a two man race, but the Magic aren't in first place so Rose fits the criteria the best.

Side note: I think there are a few PGs in the league that make a great case for being equal or superior to Rose, but are not in an MVP situation.

Good grief. You'd think the Bulls were headed for 72-10 again based on how some people are reacting to their season. They're 54-20. Great record, exceptional season, but it doesn't warrant claims such as the one bold-ed above.

There are 5 teams within 4 games of having the exact record as the Bulls. 5 within 3. 4 within 2. 2 within 1. And there's one team with a better record.

Secondly, the Bulls roster is on par with the Heats, Lakers, Celtics, and Spurs. Not saying it's better or worse, but they share realms with one another.

Personally, I don't think Kobe deserves much consideration. But LeBron, Dwight, Dirk, and Durant are all putting up numbers just as impressive, if not better than Rose's numbers, and all of their teams are in contention.

What are you talking about? Do you even know what consistent means?

The Heat have been incredibly inconsistent all season long. They've struggled mightily against contenders and were a mess to start the season. The Lakers were dropping games to the Cavs just before the All-Star break and had rumors swirling of looking at making a move to shake up the team. The Celtics have been bad post-Perkins trade losing to the Nets and Bobcats in the past 2 weeks. I won't make a case against the Spurs since before guys like Parker and Duncan went down they had the best record in the league.

Anyways, through all of that, the Bulls have been the most consistent team in the league. They haven't lost more than 2 games in a row all season. I don't know where you got Xs and Os saying they were the 72 win Bulls because he said they were consistent.

Just thought I'd throw this in here.

It isn't as clear cut as some people are making it out to be.

Also, I'd just like to point out an example of sensationalism in Rose's favor. The other night, he has a monster game against the Bucks, finishing with 31 & 18. The media, and in suit, the fans, go bonkers. "If you doubt the validity of D-Rose winning the MVP, watch the last 3 minutes of this game".

Durant puts up 34 and 16 a couple weeks earlier while shooting 50% from the field, and you hear crickets. LeBron throws up a triple double the other night, and there's whispers. In the last two weeks, Dwight has had two games where's he's dropped 25+ pts, and 15+ boards, and you hear nothing. Etc.

Yes I do, which is why I find it mind boggling for someone to argue that the Bulls have been the most consistent team in the league this season when the Spurs are a franchise within the NBA.(they still have the best record in the league)

                            And it's called hyperbole.
