The football player. The one that lowers his shoulder into your chest every time he drives to the paint.

I've seen several near fights recently where I play because of this.

And as for the "And one" thing, where I play, we just let them have the basket if they're fouled in the act of shooting and make it or check up at the top if they don't make it. Been that way for a while.

Re: The worst pick up players.

Alright, so want to hear some opinions.

Is it ever ok to try to help a friend correct their broken jumper?

Have a guy who I met through mutual friends (none of which play real seriously) that I have continued to play with on-and-off regularly (once a week or less in spurts of a month or two at a time over the last year or so). We don't go way back or anything, but know him well enough. He did not grow up playing basketball, shoots two handed, lays the ball up all wrong, etc. Really competitive guy who plays his *** off though.

Now I'm typically firmly in the camp that you just don't correct another man's jumper, no matter what.

But dude made a facebook post about how he's hitting the gym every day and shooting 500 or 1000 jumpers until he hits 70%. Now he obviously wants to get better and in all seriousness he more than likely isn't unless he changes that form.

Now, next time we play I'll probably just say something, but I was curious as to how much of a no-no you guys think that is.

Don't see why not (but I don't have your rule against it). You can tell someone who really wants to get better. If I saw that I'd throw out a one liner or something and see how it's received. If it seems like they are interested, I'd give all the help they want.

The guy who grabs your wrist and when you're close to his body, and leads you wherever he wants you to go on offense. (That's usually me) lol.

I'm with wwharton on this one. I do not have a thing against correcting a man's jumpshot. That said, I do not usually offer up advice out of the blue. Most often, if I ever say anything at all, I wait until I'm prompted in some form. If a friend is frustrated and says something like, "Man, my shot just feels so flat!", I sometimes take that opportunity to mention how using one's legs may be of assistance. Or if someone is struggling mightily and says something like, "I suck" after another bow-armed jumper, I may chime in with a nonchalant, "Nah, get that elbow in and we're good. Keep shooting."

Then again, maybe I'm in a little different position because I frequently play amongst players I coached or taught at one point.

No matter how many different forms or styles there are, there are fundamental things that should be in everyone's shot.

Hell I don't even shoot the same shot all the time... but I can look at pretty much anyone's shot and tell them what they're doing wrong without changing how they shoot.

Definitely put up a vid. Lots of knowledgeable guys on OS.

For me it is the people who play wayyy to physically and like grab your arms while you shoot and you don't want to call a foul, as well as though people who try to hurt you when you're on the court.

if someone Could help me with my shot I'd love you forever
