Jerseys are fine with me
We had a guy play with us and he came decked out in offical Bobcats practice gear. He looked like he could play...as you can guess he was terrible!!!SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: The worst pick up players.
You know who I fking hate the most? The "This is Street-ball guy."
You know who I'm talking about: the dude who doesn't have enough of what it takes to play decent D, whether that be quickness or proper timing, and just god-damn form-tackles your *** when you go for the shot. And when you call the foul, he says: "This is street-ball, dude."
/facepalmComment

Then theres the other version of street ball guy who absolutely wont call foul...
Cool, your tough and all that...but its game point and dude smacked you on the wrist we all heard it... call a foul..Comment

Re: The worst pick up players.
Semi-related: I love the players who just hack the bejesus out of you at one end and complain about you calling a foul ("On who?"). Then, at the other end, when they get fouled, they make a point by not calling a foul (which is admirable). The problem comes when, in lieu of calling a real foul, they'll just talk about it over and over "Y'all foulin' the hell outta me" or "And 1" and then when we stop play, because he said something like "And 1" or "foul", he says he wasn't trying to call a real foul, he was just saying it was a foul.
Bonus: The guy at the court who scoffs at the notion of shooting from the free throw line for teams, as if it inherently means our collective skill level must be subpar and manhood status not yet attained. He'll usually say something like, "From the free throw line? What? Y'all weak." Then, because it's not a real issue either way, I'll oblige the fellow and move everyone back to the arc. . .where we then spend the next 10 minutes trying to get 10 people to connect. Usually there's just a couple of stragglers, of whom it's apparent shooting 3's is not their fortè. The best part though, is one of those last guys shooting, looking to make his first of what seems like 10 attempts, is the guy who insisted on moving the shooting line back in the first place.Last edited by VDusen04; 03-04-2011, 10:24 AM.Comment

Re: The worst pick up players.
Yea guys. I totally feel ya on the guy who doesn't call. I'm a big men. I spend a lot time down low. And I would say most of the time. I have a mismatch. So I know going in. That guys are going to foul me. So I let them get away with maybe the first 3 fouls. I won't say anything. But what I do at the other end. Is call my opponents fouls. I'm a weird player. I rather earn my win. Then win by all out means. When I play at the YMCA. I usually try to even out the talent on both teams. So that the games aren't blowouts.
Guys how about the guy that only calls foul when he is drive in the lane against a crowd. Knows how bad of a shot he took. And tries to bail himself out by calling foul every single time.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: The worst pick up players.
Even better, and I've only known one player in my pick-up days to do this (and he did it all the time), was the guy who'd pump fake and draw and opponent into the air a la Kobe then lean into him to draw the foul. We'd then check the ball up. I'm struggling to find a more pointless play in playground basketball. I guess fouling in the backcourt on purpose when your team was trailing might rivel it, but I've yet to come across that.Comment

Re: The worst pick up players.
i got yelled at... well not yelled at but you know what i mean.. last night because i was fouled trying to make a pass, i tried to get the ball back immediately (sorry, thats my immediate reaction) and called a foul a few seconds later. they said i called the foul late... but honestly, if i retained possession i would not have called a foul cause there would not have been a point to stop play... am i wrong here? i really just don't like stopping play for no reason, but i WAS fouled i clearly got hit on the wrist while trying to make the passComment

Re: The worst pick up players.
Yeah, the bail out calls always draw the ire of opponents.

Re: The worst pick up players.
Surprised this one hasn't been mentioned yet:
The "Bum Who Tries To Showoff for the Ladies" Guy. You know that one dude on the court who clearly has no game out there but as soon as there's females around, he magically wants to transform from Popeye Jones to Amar'e Stoudamire, only realizing he's hurting the team with his no game having ***.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: The worst pick up players.
The complaining type is the worst. Any sort of contact they will fall to the ground and try to call a foul. This usually draws the game out and because we have other things to do during the day it's the last thing anybody wants. Me being a physical player at 6'3'' 245lbs I hate that guy. He usually doesn't get the invite when I make the call.Comment

Re: The worst pick up players.
That's seems to be always the case. I don't mind jerseys but those guys that come to courts geared to the neck are the ones I target immediately. The gear that is most important to me is both of my calf sleeves and my shoes.Comment
