Re: The worst pick up players.

Mrs. got me a SIQ stat tracking basketball last week.

It's amazing how accurate it is. It has a companion apps you download with it.

Such a cool gift, love it so far. The actual ball quality is up there with the Evo too.

    Here's a review on it-

After watching that review I expected it to be much more expensive. Not bad, I might pick one up.

I remember the convo we had going in here about the Evolution!

Man...that bad boy still feels amazing. Best ball hands down. I know this is a weird description, but that Evo is so buttery lol.

So that's some damn high praise X [emoji23]

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Yeah it's up there, but it's not quite the Evo.

I'll have to see how it ages as well.

Only ball I'll take over the Evo is the official Spalding NBA ball. Not too many want to bring out their $150+ ball for casual hoops though, lol

I may drop some bread and get the official Wilson when it drops.

So I'm scared to admit I've never owned a pair of foamposites. How do they feel on old man feet? lol.. Always been some of my favorite looking shoes and I'm playing in a men's league, "playing" used very loosely here as I'm just jogging up and down doing nothing at this point, but I thought about grabbing a pair of those just to have something new.

I've never had a pair of Foams but I can't imagine it'd be too problematic.

Then again, I think I have pretty high shoe tolerance. Throw me in a pair of Jordan V's, Air Way Ups, Starbury's, Hyperdunks, I'm probably going to be fine.

Good to hear about the men's league though. My area hasn't re-opened their open runs and while I could probably go out and find an outdoor run with a bunch of randoms somewhere else, it kind of gives me anxiety thinking back to all the arguments and whatnot. I think I've just aged out of that mess, but we'll see.

I've been going through basketball workouts for the first time in a while though. I mostly abandoned it in favor of hiking, biking, rollerblading, etc. because it felt like there was no point (why practice basketball if there's no basketball?) but it feels like the games in my area could come back at some point soon, so suddenly I feel like I have a purpose. I missed it (and it's still a great workout option).

Playing in Foams is like playing in a pair of Boots, I would not advise that, sir.

This is the advice I needed but I had already ordered them on impulse.. I still have shoes that are fine, so if they don't work for hooping they'll just move to the closet lol.

Foamposites are in that group of 85% of Nikes that are way too narrow for me. That fact definitely saved me from buy dozens of shoes over years that weren't really great game shoes.

I'm finally returning to the court after...well I haven't consistently played basketball since 2013-2014 because any gym I belonged to got rid of its court. A new Lifetime club opened near my work so I joined there for basketball (and all their other stuff, these clubs are incredible). I'm playing heavier (mostly more muscle but some more fat too) and older and holy **** do I feel it. I pulled my right calf about 1.5 weeks ago just shooting around cause I didn't stretch out beforehand...had to chase a ball I missed and yeah...getting old sucks. Now I'm the guy pissed at all these teens/20 year olds that don't realize how good they have it with their health...I swear I was just like them what seems like yesterday!!

I don't know how old you are but one of the cool things about basketball is that it can be a means to an end. If you play enough basketball when heavier, eventually you're probably not going to be quite as heavy as you started, which may lead to better basketball and less injuries, which may lead to even better returns.

But your other point still stands. At the risk of sounding like Wooderson in Dazed and Confused, that's the thing about basketball - you get older but there's always going to be a group that stays the same age. The 20-year-old who used to give me some trouble when I was 25 may eventually age out and give up the game but he's just going to get replaced by the next 20-year-old.

The good news is, sometimes there's leagues out there for guys like us (I'm 37) and the older you get, the more you tend to resign yourself to the notion that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to play ball with some dudes in knee-braces and some grey hair after all.

There are enough 35+ and 40+ leagues in my area but they've been a farce in my experience. The last one I was in we had two kids who were 24 on our team.

My go-to pre-COVID run was a controlled open gym that seemed to be mostly 25 and up, which was a nice little mix. There'd be a few young guns sprinkled in but they fit well.

Sidenote, you know how old we are? We're calling 24-year-olds kids.
