It's sad to see Nate and Perkins go, I know. But the trade can be good for the Celtics somehow.
I won't say too much untill I watch "the new players" playing.

It's ok. But seriously, what the hell does Ainge think he's doing? They were first in the conference. Why shake things up? Did the Mello trade scare the Celtics' front office? Not only did they lose one of the best post defenders in the league, the locker room is supposedly up in arms right now. This has probably killed their chance at getting back to the Finals with this roster core.

Dude can't defend at all. The Celtics are scoring at a terrific rate this season. They don't need another offensive player. The Celtics missed Perkins' inside presence in the Finals last year. They'll miss him this year too.

Garnett is going to play big down the stretch then.

That's asking too much of him. He's old and broken down and isn't a good matchup against the best bigs the east has to offer.

I don't see how you guys can say Green is a great move for the future. In order for that to happen they will have to resign him first. Who's to say Green doesn't just walk then you are left with nothing.

There is no way you give up a major piece to a championship level team to hope for the future. You try to win it all if you have the pieces in place. This was a panic move by Boston IMO. The man said he would test free agency not that he was leaving. If it was me I would make the push for the title now and see what happens with the CBA before trading him and hoping a bunch of old men can hold down the paint in the playoffs.

                    That

I wouldn't classify it as a panic move, but yeah just because a guy says he's gonna test it, you don't trade your anchor. He and KG are what made the C's fearsome.

Plus with the new CBA it might have made it harder for other teams to sign Perk to big money.

I'm in total disagreement with everyone who said this is a good move for the Celts.

You don't make a move for the future when you're sitting at the top of your conference setting up for a playoff run. If anything, you take a gamble on a guy who can get you over the top; not chip away at a solid core.

                      BIG mistake IMO.

I don't want to hear "best frontline in the East" when nobody on that roster can guard Howard, Stoudemire, Horford, Hibbert one-on-one and hold them.

That Celtics frontline will get in foul trouble early. JO can't even play. WTF?

                      Horrible, horrible trade IMHO.

Re: Kendrick Perkins Traded to OKC

It's a weird trade for the Celtics. I have mixed feelings on it, I could see it coming back to bite them but at the same time I think it could turn into a solid move.

If you can go into the playoffs with a bench of West, Wafer, Green and Big Baby; I like it since I think it could allow Boston to play a lot of different lineups. I would have been interested to see how Doc would have decided who to play in the 4th quarter of a playoff game between Shaq, Perk or Big Baby because ego's could get involved. My concern is with if Delonte West gets hurt, what do the Celtics do to backup Rondo.

For the Thunder, I think this move allows them the chance to be an elite defensive team especially if they start Perkins, Ibaka, Durant, Thabo and Westbrook. Plus Perkins setting screens for Durant should be a great thing for Durant. I still think the Thunder need a 3rd scorer to emerge, which will probably have to be Harden. That could create an interesting 2nd unit with Harden and Nate, but I think this may mean they start Harden now.

No one expands their lineups in the playoffs and experiments with different lineups.

A bench of West, Wafer, Green and Davis is a major, major dropoff IMO.

                          Horrible.

Yeah I see what your saying. This might come down to who gets bought out and that the Celtics can sign. This has been a weird trade deadline.

                              Which makes it more bone-headed.

If they're waiting on Troy Murphy...has anyone watched him play this year? Do you really think he can add something to this team? Imagine Murphy trying to body Dwight.

And everyone's saying Sheed's coming back.

With the amount of weed Sheed has probably smoked since he retired...there's no way he can pass a physical.

Perkins had played 12 games so far this seaon, started 7, and hasn't really been all that effective since returning.

Risk is all on OKC to try and get hallf of what Perkins was pre-injury.

While on the other hand Boston gets a proven/healthy baller who has nothing holding him back, be it recovery or what have you.

Lest we forget, the C's have managed to almost completely dominate their opponent without Perkins this season....

The dude is coming off major knee surgery too, so it's not as if they can go full throttle with him anytime soon....so just how effective were they going to be? They'd really be no worse if they just continued to trot out Shaq, Erden, Davis, or whatever.

BLUF: Who was legitmately saying: Boston is good now, but a definite contender once Perkins returns....?

I don't remember seeing/hearing anything that made Boston's title run contingent on Kendrick Perkins' return. Why now?
