If the Hornets get to the playoffs and pull off a series win without David West i'll have to name my first kid Monty or something, If we can get a series with SA or Dallas then I think we could atleast win a few games but idk about that anymore without West

I don't think people rave over him.
People might rave over him in terms of his value to the Lakers. Which is immense.
But if you plopped him on a team and depended on him to either be Batman or Robin, you're not gonna get a ring. He is still very much a complimentary player, still far away from being an elite player in the league.
Who is raving over him?Comment

I can agree with your assesment on Gasol compared to Bynum, but we're talking about completely flipping the situations. If Gasol is the one that can't stay on the floor and Bynum is the one fully healthy in those two title runs. None of the Bynum...whatever the hell he was going through that one year feeling sorry for himself or whatever that was. Him playing at the level we've been seeing him play before injuries setback all of that. I know that's a lot of if's that we really will never know about. But just for the sake of the question posed. You don't think they could have won those two titles if we flipflop Gasol into the position of Bynum?I've seen a ton of these Lakers since the late 90's, and I will have to say I disagree with this.
Bynum simply isn't good enough to be the only Robin.
He benefits immensely from Odom/Gasol being at his side.
I will say if it was only Kobe/Gasol/Odom, I don't think they would have beat Boston last year.
Gasol is much more versatile. Much more consistent. Just a guy who can make the game easier for his teammates much more than Andrew can.Comment

I really doubt they would have won against Boston.
Against Orlando, who knows, but Orlando was actually really close to being up 3-1. I still think that's underrated, and people will never realize how vulnerable LA was. Hell even against Denver, if you didn't have Anthony freakin Carter throwing the inbounds pass right to Trevor Ariza, we might have seen Denver in the finals. That whole year was pure luck for LA.
As I said up above, Andrew is still a long way from being an elite big man. Pau has been an elite big man almost his entire career. Their DNA are different to this point. Pau is a championship level player here and internationally. Andrew is still learning how to become a full time starter.
His cardio would not have allowed him IMO to be that guy for LA to carry them and anchor them inside for two titles. I don't see that happening.Comment

I was watching the game yesterday and they talked about him like he was the greatest thing ever.I don't think people rave over him.

I'm not trying to knock him and I think he's a solid player. But you listen to these commentators sometimes and they make it out like he's the best center in the league.Comment

Pau an elite big his ENTIRE career? Ehhhh don't know if I can agree with that.
He was very, very good when he was in Memphis and made that team relevant for the time he was there, but I wouldn't consider him in the class of Dirk, Duncan, KG at that time.#RespectTheCultureComment

I said "almost his entire career".
And no I wouldn't have put him in that class either while he was in Memphis. Those guys were the cream of the crop, and Pau was probably in the tier below. I still consider that to be elite. Look at how fast he elevated Los Angeles. Didn't even need any buffer time, fit right in and along with Kobe, got to the Finals.
To me that speaks volumes on how good and talented and smart the guy really was/is.Comment

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
