Purely a hypothetical "what if a superteam" was formed...

I heard this mentioned elsewhere and it got me to thinking. What if a real 'super team' emerged? We never imagined Miami getting a "big 3", but what if it went further?

Imagine if over the next 12 months Chris Paul sits down and thinks "man, i could run the point there with LeBron and D-Wade on the wings for 5 years, I'd still be rich even on a mid level contract...I'd live on the beach, damm I'm going to go there for a few years and enjoy the rings!"

And then imagine Nene thinks "hey, I want to live in a spanish speaking community...i've already got enough money to live like a king in Brasil anyway...damm, I'm going to go there!"

I mean, it would be game over for the NBA for the next 5 years.

Yes, this is purely a hypothetical...but "what if it happened?". Does Stern and the NBA have the power to cancel contracts / void deals based purely on the long term good of the league?

What if 5 guys decided to just form a super team? Is there nothing that could be done or can the NBA step in at some point?

Miami already seems to be loaded with perimeter shooters.

As I said, this is just a hypothetical (though I do have Brasillian friends who think Nene is a big chance of going to Miami)...

I would lose interest. Also, that doesn't sound like a "super" team to me. More like 3 elite players and 2 second tier players.

3 Potential (possibly perennial) First Team All-NBA Level players = super team.

If that happened, I would watch their games.

Man.. We still calling Bosh a second tier player? CP3, Wade, LeBron, Bosh and Nene. I wouldn't want to play that team in 2k. Your talking about the some of the best defenders at their position (in CP3, Wade and LeBron).

As long other 'superteam' are formed to combat it, I'd be fine. Put Dwight Howard in Chicago or LA. Have Deron Williams in New York(get rid of the coach as well). Put Kevin Love in OKC. Put Manu Ginobli in Dallas. And let see what happens. That'll be very interesting.
