Kobe has been playing amazing defense lately. I think it's one aspect of his game that is overlooked. Probably because he is such a great offensive weapon, people don't think about it. I've been watching every game this year so far, and I've seen him get all over the guy he is guarding. One of the better defenders in the game today.

His defensive skills aren't overlooked though, he is on the all-defense first team. I don't like his defense off the ball though. I think he cheats to much and the guy he's guarding usually gets too many open threes and jumpers. But he will shut you down just about everytime if you try to take him on a iso.

I am reading a lot of post on how Kobe is trying to be like M.J. If you could aspire to be like anyone should it not be the greatest player of all the time. For all the people that don't know, Kobe is a student of the game. He watches game tape of all the greats and studies them. It just happens that the best moves come from the greatest player ever to change the game. Hate kobe for his attitude or his cockiness but don't hate on him for being the most all around competitive player in the league. He plays the game for the love of the game. Every summer before his incident he improved an aspect of his game. He plays defense hard and takes losing so hard that he actually cries. The only person that competes on his level with the same kind of passion is A.I. He is probably only at 40% of his game and still is at the top of most of the statistics on his team. I may not like Kobe as a person but I respect his game. Look at the stats and look at the championships and all at a very young age. Remember Micheal Jordan was once a Kobe Bryant and he actually went to college and played under a great coach. It took him atleast 6 years to complete his game. The only reason that Micheal was not hated on for taking so many shots is becasue people actually liked him. Thats all I have to say.

The problem is not Kobe coppin' MJ's style. The problem is Kobe denying that he's doing that. Kobe says that he takes parts of his game from many different players, like Magic Johnson, when it's clear as day that he copies MJ--yet he denies that.

Like I said before, I don't look at Kobe for what he says or how he acts. I look at the numbers and the results. Kobe is a proven winner and he will continue to win no matter what people don't like about him. I would also like to know where exactly you heard that he denies that he copies Jordan. Just for your information I am a die hard Jordan fan pre-retirement and I remember imitating a lot of his classic moves when I played college ball. It was just plain fun. I use to watch come fly with me every other day.

Kobe denied that in plenty of interviews on tv. You know he tries to emulate MJ, but he takes it too far. It goes off the court too, in front of cameras, and he denies it as if people are just seeing things. He also has not really been himself. You cannot mention Kobe without trying to compare him with Jordan can you? He never really made his own image. The queeky clean thing was the media, but he tries to do everything like Jordan, tap the floor, chew gum, speak in interviews, fade a way J wagging his finger, etc...

these people actually think kobe sets out to copy jordan's style. who in the league doesn't wag their fingers? reggie miller always skips backwards after he makes a shot, did he copy off of jordan too? kobe barely ever wears a suit anymore before/after the game, you wouldn't catch jordan in anything else. again, I've never seen reggie miller in anything but a suit, did he copy off of jordan? and if being polite in an interview is jordan like, than I guess kobe copied him.

alonzo shows his biceps when he does a good play....I guess he copied off of karl malone.

let's see, Kobe cheated on his wife, maybe he does copy off of jordan....all he needs now is a gambling problem and a diva complex.

                              Exactly!

Why are his die-hard, "We Love You Like Our Girlfriends" fans in such denial about this. No one is disrespecting Kobe's game.

                              It's his mannerisms.

And this is why he really doesn't get alot of the respect that he should get. Maybe if he developed his own identity, it would happen for him.

All this platinum crucifixes, tats, motorcycles, that's all canned. You can tell that's not his style but he's doing it for show.

And to whoever compared what Miller does to MJ--- umm, why would you get in a fistfight with someone you're trying to be like?

                              That comparison holds no weight.
