Well, personally, I don't hold it against Carmelo that his teams lost to teams that they were supposed to lose to, just like I don't hold it against Durant that they lost to the Lakers when they were expected to lose to the Lakers.

I could put this in this thread Metrics vs. The Eye but since this thread has more buzz, I'll put it here instead.
Its totally speaks to the crux of this discussion.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Here's my problem with sabermetrics — it's a useful tool that feels like the answer. If we were smarter creatures, of course, we wouldn't get seduced by the numbers. We'd remember that not everything that matters can be measured, and that success in sports (not to mention car shopping) is shaped by a long list of intangibles. In fact, we'd use the successes of sabermetrics to focus even more on what can't be quantified, since our new statistical tools take care of the stats for us. We are finally free to think about how those front seats feel.
But that's not what happens. Instead, coaches and fans use the numbers as an excuse to ignore everything else, which is why our obsession with sabermetrics can lead to such shortsighted personnel decisions. After all, there is no way to quantify the fierce attitude of a team that feels slighted, or the way even the best players can be undone by the burden of expectations, or how Kendrick Perkins meant more to the Celtics than his rebounding stats might suggest.Comment

Re: Let's settle this: Kevin Durant vs. Carmelo Anthony
i would rather have durant, due to size and youth.
currently, they're about even in terms of talent, production and skill. there is no real right or wrong answer, just a preference.
i also don't like carmelo anthony, though i recognize his talent.xbox gt - bmorerep87

Re: Let's settle this: Kevin Durant vs. Carmelo Anthony
They are both dynamic scorers. But I prefer Durant's game over Anthony's. Durant has better range, a quicker release, and is more willing to move without the ball. Anthony is stronger, has a better post up game, and is more of a complete scorer. Durant is a more willing and accurate passer and they are both poor defenders (though Anthony is capable of playing great defense once in a while).
What I can't stand about Anthony is his game to game inconsistency. He simply fails to show up far too often and he usually bombs out in the playoffs.Comment

Bumpity bump, you know what time it is, OS.(No, it's not clobbering time)Was trying to find the Durant/Lebron thread from a few years back but it was locked but I noticed this from over the summer, which was interesting.
Anybody have a change of heart yet or seen any improvements/changes in these 2 this year to change your mind?#RespectTheCultureComment
