This guy has had countless opportunities to stick it to the owners and time and time again he passes them up. And the opportunities are limited, so the more you pass up the less chance you have.

Now let’s say maybe…JUST MAYBE…Cuban did tell Hunter he wanted to get rid of the cap, what makes you think that Cuban will even admit to that in public? Him and the other owners haven’t said a single word to the media. Even Cuban, who loves to show his chops to the camera any chance he gets. AND I know it’s killing him that he has to side with Stern in this because we all know how Cuban would love to stick it to Stern BUT Cuban is not going to be turned against his contemporaries so easily. Now if Cuban did say this to Hunter, if Hunter was shrewd enough(which he isn’t), he could have had a secret ally to work with on the other side. Not to say that Hunter could directly talk to Cuban BUT if Hunter knows that Cuban is one of the owners just looking to make a deal without raping the players DON’T CALL HIS NAME OUT THERE LIKE THAT! If you keep talking at him in the negotiations, he probably would see you side. But now that you put him name out there in the media, you can forget that.

I’m wondering if Hunter was in class when they were teaching Negotiating 101 when he was in law school? As much as I think Donald Fehr is a snake, he’s an intelligent snake. That guy gets things done. Fehr was fortunate to work under Marvin Miller, probably the best sports union lawyer of all time. Miller was also knows for being a master negotiator as well.

You sure about Sheridan and Berger? I actually posted an article from Berger and he stated that he was more mad at the owners in this mess.

Ive been reading Berger for the past few months and he wasnt mad at the owners until this past week's fiasco with the ultimatum. Even I was upset about that move. He is very middle ground.

Same with Sheridan even though I think he leans a little pro player. Thats why I put slightly for him.

And David Aldridge did grill Stern on that interview a couple of weeks ago where he got Stern to back tracking on some of his comments.

Now it's understandable about Aldridge because he works for NBA TV. BUT I'd feel if he was a writer independent of the NBA, he'd probably be in the same boat as WoJo.

Has anyone attempted to explain exactly why the lockout is going on to casual fans? I end up having to use relationships instead of BRI percentages...its hilarious

Here's why I believe the NBA. According to Hunter, Cuban's Gamechanger idea was no salary cap, no max salary and a huge tax for any team that goes over 65 or 75 mil in salary. Now if the NBA was going to lie, they would just say that Cuban had the idea at all. Cuban cant talk to the press so he couldnt deny it what the NBA is saying.

The NBA didnt do that. They admitted that Cuban threw out the no max salary idea with a significant tax. They are just saying that Hunter went into a room, discussed it with his team and came back with an offer that expanded Cuban's plan with the no salary cap.

I agree he was stupid for putting his name out there.

Heck, even if the NBA was lying, I'd still side with them after that dumb move by Hunter.

With the barn storming tour that’s being finalized, is that another tell-tell sign that these talks will come out with any progress? It seems to me that at least the NBA players don’t think so.

its amazing how many people think:

-the players are striking for more money
-the lockout needs to happen so rules can change

The tour is only 10 days starting this saturday. They would just cut it short if it interfered with the start of camp.

Did Billy Hunter make progress with the league during an unannounced Monday bargaining session?

                              'Inching Closer' To Ending Lockout

A source who was briefed on talks between the owners and players told CBS Sports on Wednesday that the parties have made progress toward finalizing a new collective bargaining agreement.

"We're inching closer to a deal," said the source.

The parties may have made progress during an unannounced Monday bargaining session, and are meeting again Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the owners discussed revenue sharing among themselves and Ken Berger reports that observers will be "pleasantly surprised" by the commitment that the big-market owners will make make to the small-market teams.
