Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion

    From the Woj:

Clearly, the NBA and NBPA made some measure of progress talking quietly over last 48-72 hours leading into bargaining session today in NY.
Oh and how convenient of Woj to tweet again:

Two sources -- one on ownership side, one union -- with direct knowledge of latest proposals are encouraged with movement on both sides.

I will say its interesting that the league did not officially cancel games on Monday or Tuesday.

Can't help but get sucked in. I like this quiet approach. Put your heads together and make a deal.

Their going to cancel all of November anyway. It takes them 3 or so weeks to actually get the thing all typed up & signed, plus you gotta shove free agency in.

To be fair to us, I think we always thought Stern's deadlines to be nothing but baseless scare tactics

Tell me, you think these guys are all greedy enough to do a full 82 game season anyway

Not true. You can lift the lockout with an agreement in principle and still work on drafting it. Still likely that they cancel all of November but it's not impossible.

The NFL lifted their lockout before they finalized their deal on paper, so I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be any different if there is a verbal agreement.
