Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
I don't think the owners would waste their time with a meeting just to re-iterate their hard-line stances to the players.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

You have meetings to make progress.
Minds have already been changed on some issues, this happens through meetings.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
It's already known that the Owners will not back off their stance of a Hard Cap, so I doubt a week off has made them change their minds and I also doubt meeting without Stern, Fisher and Hunter is going to change it.
The Players know what the Owners want and the Players don't wanna agree to what the Owners want, so what's the point of them meeting again? That's why I said they're pointless at this point.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
again, to work out a deal. lol.
sure theres a point in meeting, thats how a deal gets done.
someone has to/ and will eventually give. every meeting is a step towards that. unless theres a report out there where they said "**** it, we arent having a season...there isnt a pointless meeting they can have.
unless im completely missing your point.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Meetings in September don't mean **** because nobody's missed anything yet. That's basically what I'm saying.
No progress has been made and no progress is going to get made until the actual threat of games getting missed gets more serious and even then, progress still might not be made.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
If a deal isn't done by Oct 6....the league will miss games. They only have 2 weeks to agree to a deal, get union and owner approval and draft the agreement. They need to start working toward that this week in order to make that happen. The threat of missing actual games is here.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Well. They're having a meeting today (supposedly) so will see what comes of it later on this afternoon.....most likely the same old stuff.
- Can't agree on the same major points
- Both sides don't want to miss games
- Both sides need a deal that "makes sense" for them
- blah, blah, blah, blah,
Then they will probably agree to go back and meet in smaller groups like a few weeks ago (if that's not what is happening today ?)Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
I think it's going to get done. Negotiations like these always get settled at the last minute. So let's not be surprised OR claim gloom and doom if nothing comes out of it. Right now, both sides are just fishing more more concessions. I'm believing that both sides have a basic deal in place and their just trying to get a little more. As most who reported on these meetings, I do think it's just posturing.
Until Stern OFFICIALLY announces cancelled games, then I'm not going to believe that things are turning for the worst. I don't care what these owners and players are feeding the press. BUT at the same time, until Stern announces that them and the players MUTUALLY agree on a CBA, then I'm not going to get too excited.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong.
