I'm still with Matrix hoping a deal isn't done. I'm willing to sacrifice a year for the greater good of the sport. This deal as currently constructed will severly hurt the league IMO.

I'll gladly keep my "League Pass" money.
You looking at the Chair MAN!

Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.

I don't see anything happening, but I wore a suit today just in case they needed me in these meetings.

How does the current deal hurt the league?

Kidnapping Kessler would have helped more.

Pfft... that's not news. We've known that for a while now.

Throne's theory is based on the belief that the big market teams will continue to spend into the luxury tax because the tax penalties arent severe enough for them, the mid level teams will no longer go into luxury tax territory because of the increased tax penalties and that the smaller market teams will just hoard the revenue sharing money and not use it to improve their teams.

                  I disagree with that theory.

Not counting on a verdict at 5 pm ET. Sides have consistently shot past deadlines to suggest they're really, really trying. Even if, well...

NBA labor deadline 30 mins away. Rumbles of optimism offset by equal doses of caution from sources saying Stern can only offer B-list tweaks

Not sure the 5 pm deadline means much, given that the NBA and union are negotiating right now. Ultimatum relevant only if talks fail.

Labor meeting has been on complete lockdown with so-called 5 PM deadline looming. Small group, so easier to keep information within room.

I also disagree, If you really think about it a lot the main issues have nothing to do with the CBA, officiating for example.

The new luxury tax amount will just result in seperating large rev teams from mid/small rev teams. Teams like Memphis or my Hornets who may have gone into the luxury tax before won't dare to do so now and miss out on the revenue because it will cost so much and they'll be so much money to split now from the guys who will spend like crazy ie Cuban, Buss, Dolan and the Russian.

The amnesty rule will just let guys who are still very talented migrate to big market teams for next to nothing because they are getting their money from other teams.

The stretch rule(I haven't seen it discussed here just other places) will have the same effect as the amnesty rule.

Have to think Billy Hunter wants a deal today he can take to a vote. W/out one, and decertification looming, he becomes a dead man walking.

If talks are productive, obviously they'll continue into the evening.

On flip side, it's hard to see how David Stern can make a deal today that his owners unanimously approve, as I've heard he wants.
