I would love to see his face when he finds out Billy is signing off on a 47% deal, and he can't do anything about itComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
I hope they reject it, let them blow all their money when they aren't getting paid this season, and come back crying for basketball again next season and be stuck with getting like 43-45% of the BRIComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Well, I don't know if you follow the NHL, but when that league lost the '04-'05 season, the season wasn't scrapped officially until February 14th IIRC. At that point, there was talk of a possible 11th-hour deal (which obviously never materialized) in conjunction with a 28-game regular season. I don't know if the NBA has a number in mind as far as how many games would need to be played for it to be considered a viable regular season.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003
New York Giants- 1927, 1934, 1938, 1956, 1986, 1990, 2007.

They're better off organizing those weak charity games they've been doing
These guys are running out of time for this foolishness
They need to quit citing arena workers and crap like growing the game and just say what it really is because people arent stupid... well some are still siding with them citing things like MJ is a sellout and the NBA is carrying around racism (yeah, people in LA at that...lakers fans), but beyond that.... Come on manComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
If Terry cares so much, maybe he can give some workers some cash? Of course, thats if he cares so much.
But he doesn't. And this "arena worker" thing needs to stop.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Clearly the players think they have leverage now, since the owners 'gave' a little back. Players are ********. I sometimes wish basketball didn't exist so I could have seen these bums sitting on the streets with cups begging for change.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
The players are absolutely, completely, and utterly delusional if they ever *EVER* thought 53% was even the least bit feasible for them. I don't think that anything short of the players foiling Doctor Doom and Magneto trying to conquer the world could get them a better deal than they got, and even if they could get a better deal at this point the marginal gain they would get isn't worth the risk if they're wrong.

Dallas Mavericks player representative Jason Terry said that if the proposal NBA commissioner David Stern delivered to the union late Thursday night is not a substantial improvement from the league's prior one, players will be prepared to walk away, even if it threatens losing the entire season.
"Our reasoning and what our strategy is, is we are trying to grow <s>the game of basketball</s> our bank accounts, and under the terms that have been presented to us, <s>the game of basketball for us</s> our wallets, from a players' perspective, financially, will not be growing," Terry said Friday morning during an appearance on the "Ben and Skin Show" on 103.3 FM ESPN.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
Reject it players.
And Stern and the NBA, revise your best offer to completely remove BRI split... you all keep it ALL. Let them play for their contracts... and nothing more, under a hard cap. Foolishness.Twitter - WTF_OS

Right...and if they sue the league to have the lockout lifted, it could take weeks to get a court hearing, right?New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Not to sound like I'm discriminating against all athletes, but that reminds me of something my dad used to say. He always speculated about what some of these players would be doing if pro sports didn't exist. Some would be successful and productive, I'm sure, but for many, I don't think it would be a pretty picture. So many just seem clueless and out of touch with reality.Last edited by matt8204; 11-11-2011, 05:17 PM.New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

It would have been nice if the NBAPA had help from a Real Union guy from the UAW to help negotiate, They have more experience in these type of negotiations then the current people involved..chuckcross.bandcamp.com

Gotta laugh at Jason Terry talking about a class system. Does he realize that even the 12th man on the bench makes more than 99 percent of Americans? Get a grip. You want to be a real lower class person making $7.25/hour and busting your hump at three jobs to make ends meet?New Jersey Devils- 1995, 2000, 2003

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion
I keep hearing these players coming out and saying "the deal is bad, real bad" but none of them ever explain why. They talk about how it's "insulting" and how each proposal is worse than the last. Just one player please explain why it's so bad, I'm more than willing to listen.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
