No hard cap and nothing close to it. The Lakers and Knicks will still blow past the cap and just pay the increased taxes. Especially the Lakers now that its new tv deal is going into effect.

Any chance at all that the owners get the union to reform to vote on this deal, then pull out of the agreement with the union proving they're case that the decert was bogus? Then laying they're 47 percent deal on the table?

No chance the players turn this **** down right?
KBM be careful, one of the idiots from the negotiations might be an OS member and get ideas from this.

dang. such a shame the owners backed down from that!! IMO the league needs a hard cap to make the league more competitive so to speak.

if no hard cap, they should just retract 4 teams or so!!

End of this week. The Labor Relations Committee will approve it today. Board of Govenors by midweek. The players will ask for the court to dismiss the suit and the court will grant it on Monday. Union will be reformed by mid week. Vote probably takes place end of the week. I could see the lockout lifted by the 3rd. Then its 6 days of FA negotiations and rookie signings. Contracts will be official on the 9th/

League is plenty competitive imo. Over the last 10 years here are the teams that have made it to the conference finals. Boston, Dallas, OKC, Miami, Cleveland, Orlando, LAL, NJN, Phoenix, San Antonio, Indiana, Philly, Milwaukee, Portland, Sacramento, Chicago and Detroit.

The only issue is that small market teams have an inability to create dynasties and keep players long term.

Any details about the season? 50 games?

What are the highlights of the agreement? Amnesty clause still gonna come into play?

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion

Was at the local dive bar last night, and Landry Fields was chillin when I saw the breaking news on Sportscenter. Was looking to see if Landry would pay attention to the t.v. but he didn't seem to care, lol

                    Anyway here's some tweets

@ZachLowe_SI MLE details, per source (1/2): All teams can use full MLE as long as it doesn't take them more than $4M above tax.

@ZachLowe_SI (2/2): If team uses full MLE to get to/near $4M over tax, they CANNOT re-sign FAs and go over $4M. barrier. Could do so via vet minimums

@ZachLowe_SI More MLE: If you are more than $4M over the tax at any point, you cannot use the full MLE. You get only mini one--$3M for 3 years.

@ZachLowe_SI The same $4M-over-the-tax line ban applies to sign-and-trades--can't use if it takes you > $4M above tax, per source.

@ZachLowe_SI Other details: Lux tax RATES and repeater penalties will be as they were in owners' final proposal. Extra hit if you pay 4 times in 5 yrs

@ZachLowe_SI Tweak for players: Rookies eligible for extensions could get one worth 30% of cap level, up from 25%

@ZachLowe_SI And as an aside, I'd not expect any immediate changes on age limit. But that is hunch based on some convos, not set in stone yet.

                      It'll be a 66 game season, Ex.

So when can the players actually get in contact with Team Officials like the Coaches, Trainers and whatnot? Can they do that ASAP(not like they probably haven't spoke to them even during the Lockout anyway)or will they have to wait until the 9th?

Man, there's going to be some sloppy basketball for the first few weeks for some teams, I can see that already LOL.

So...officially we get our rookies on the 9th?

What's going to happen to the Nets? Isn't Deron Williams still in a foreign country? I feel sorry for Pack if he can't come back to the NBA this season

So in a way, this really doesn't stop the Superteams from forming anyway, right?

Like if the Knicks wanted to sign Duhwight or CP3 or even(can't believe I'm going to say this)Deron to a max deal?
