Dont forget the agents want a piece of that future too
While they're at it, they can offer to share all of their endorsements
That should really sweeten the potComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
What's your point about your last comment?
New Jersey has opened up their books to the public but I didn't even think we would need to see that to see that they're losing money and if it wasn't for The Russian stepping in, they would continue to lose money. In a way, they're still losing money right now but with the move to Brooklyn, they(well really The Russian)stands to make up the losses.
Let's see how the numbers look for teams with stable ownership like the Bulls, the Knicks, Lakers or even some of the middle tier clubs. How do these clubs treat profits and losses from local cable deals? I just find it very hard to believe the league lost $350M without some funny, albeit legal accounting.Comment

Don't know about other teams but The Nets turning profit while Bruce Ratner was the Owner is like going to Five Guys and asking them to make you a Burrito like they do at Chipotle. They weren't going to make much money while being in Jersey.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Teams are just part of a vast portfolio for the owners. Ratner buys the NJ Nets in 2005, who were operating at a profit at the time after coming off some successful seasons. He then lobbies to move them to Brooklyn and the whole Atlantic Yards Project begins, with office buildings and residential towers tied to the building of a new arena. Some of the costs from that deal is tied into the Nets and suddenly the Nets are a sad sack franchise netting big time losses. And the players give up some of their slice of the pie for office towers? Maybe, maybe not. But let us see for our own eyes.Comment

That's what happens when the city gives you $214M of real estate for less than half the amount. CHA-CHING!Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
The Union said the losses were more like 200 mil so its not like there were no significant losses.Comment

They were made available to the union, who immediately cried foul over the accounting. Nothing illegal but definitely not supportive of the league's claim of $350M in losses. They should be opened to the public so we can see just how these numbers add up.

I don't think you or anyone needs to be a Finance Major to see that the Nets were and still are losing money.#RespectTheCultureComment
