He reportedly requested a trade to the Nets AGAIN. Point blank, Dwight ain't going to LA.

Sorry Laker Nation, but Dwight is dead-set on being in Brooklyn next year.
Dead set? No. Don't think he'd have an issue being a Laker. I foresaw NJ being the one team that could make a run for him though.

Wonder what happens with the tampering thing.

Also this effectively changes nothing. We already knew the two were linked and im not surprised he'd like to go there potentially. Still entirely on Magic front office what happens. What they value, what they want, and what they can get.

Lakers had been searching for deal in past day to obtain a first-round pick to send New Orleans as part of Chris Paul package, sources say.

How would a gm knowingly help the lakers get a first round pick...when they were upset about the trade the going down the first time.

I'd really love the inclusion of a lottery pick, but that probably won't happen in this trade

It's a business move. One of the factors probably being that Howard wants to market himself and his Adidas brand in a new Brooklyn arena with a new Brooklyn team. He'd be the man in Brooklyn, along with Deron Williams, and they would compete with Melo and STAT for the NY throne.

In LA, he'd be competing against Kobe and (possibly) CP3 for marketing. While LA is a big market team, so is NY, and having Jay-Z and a billionaire Russian involved is a better situation.

Also, there was no tampering to begin with. At least, according to reports, I think.

It's still beyond me how and why would Howard sign up for the Nets. I don't think they will be a contender even with D.Will, already said that and will continue to say it. I'd prefer if Dwight went to the Celtics / Dallas or just stay around Orlando and see if they could get something.

Just my 2 cents though! Btw, nobody's been talking about Josh Smith... before the lockout everyone was talking about him being traded to the Magic

2 years ago, we were 0-18 at this point, playing in a ****ty arena in a ****ty area, with a cheap *** owner, who'd rather the team lose money and suck and be a joke to the entire league.

2 years later, we acquire one of the best PGs in the league and are now on the verge of acquiring the best Center in the game.

Again, Basketball Gods please bless my Nets this one time. Just please.

Gasol and Randolph are better all-around players than Stoudemire and Chandler, IMO. We'll see how good the Knicks can be with a training camp and full season together.

                      Hmmm, good argument.

Melo > Rudy is clear to me.

Z-Bo may be better all around, certainly a better rebounder, but I'd rather have Amare obviously. His ability to take over a game and carry a team is greater than Z-Bo's IMO.

I'd definitely take Gasol over Chandler.

I can see why some would take Memphis' front line though.

I think they could be a contender for sure. Twin Towers with the best or second best QB in the league?

Apologies but you can't begin to tell me the Lakers play in a market thats TOO SMALL to contain Dwight Howard and he'd rather go to Brooklyn. You lost me at Adidas.

I've absolutely never doubted the Nets are involved, and that Dwight likely wouldn't mind going there to rock the rims with Deron. This doesn't come as news, merely confirmation of what we already knew. Instead of "sources" it's coming from a legitimate mouth. That's the difference here.

Still plenty of unknowns, I wouldn't bank on anything with Dwight just yet. And at the end of the day, Dwight has no say in this. Still entirely up to the ORL front office. Guess we'll see what they value.

EDIT: Also, leverage? Smart move by Otis Smith while the Lakers are apparently piecing together whatever they can to get CP3. I'm blown away Mitch isn't working round the clock on getting Dwight as opposed to CP3, much more natural shift.

I think this whole CP3-Lakers + Dwight Howard trade saga is holding everything up. Once this goes down, the chips will fall.

And the Nets would be a contender the same way Derrick Rose is contending with Joakim Noah as his center. Don't underestimate the power of a great PG with a great big-man.

Duhwight doesn't strike me as someone that's concerned about marketing or having to share the spotlight. Still, it'll surprise me if he ends up with the Nets.
