Probably not as much money going back to New Orleans. And that number one pick is gold.

Get this done, and find a damn buyer for the team so we don't have to hear anything else about him, the team, stupid stern jokes, and worst of all, people who have no clue why what happened happened the way it did.

      CP3/Gordon/Butler/Griffin/Jordan

      My God

Let me guess, people are still gonna pick them to miss the playoffs cuz they're the Clippers

Wasn't NO's getting a number one pick as well in the shot down trade? Clippers draft pick isn't going to be a lottery pick, FYI

Man, if I had the cash, I'd pick up Clip season tickets. That team would be FUN.

I mean, to get CP3 without giving up your best or second best player, on the Clippers of all teams?

            Kudos I guess? Lol

The Clippers pick is actually Minnesota's pick, unprotected. From a Marko Jaric/Sam Cassell trade like 8 years ago.

                .

In terms of selling a franchise, I have to say that it's a much better deal. Much, much better.

You get a potential number 1 to 3 pick in a strong draft next season AND clear a massive contract in Kaman.

They'll completely suck this season...the Lakers Rockets deal would have made them competitive...but, in terms of selling a team, the Clippers deal is much better.

That team is a third seed in the West IMO...........and has more potential than any team in the league. Paul, Gordon and Blake are all not even close to their best yet. Scary. If it was any team other than the Clippers, you'd back them to win it all within three years.

                  Chris Paul
                  Eric Gordon
                  Caron Butler
                  Blake Griffin
                  DeAndre Jordan

Can't disagree with you Court. I still think the shot down trade wasn't that much worse if any than the one that's on the table now.

I was just gonna clarify that, good catch.

Which pick would NO's have gotten in the shot down trade?

Still, pretty damn good haul by the Clippers if it is approved. The players NO's got back are definitely not better than the shot down trade. But I guess if people value the unprotected lottery pick over the players.. so be it.

The Lakers trade would have made NO an 8th or 9th seed and very solid. (And no high pick)

The Clippers trade means NO will suck big time...they and the T-Wolves will be the worst two teams out west.

Which means next season NO will have two high lottery picks + remove Kaman's huge contract.

That's a lot easier to sell than a 8th seed with lots of ongoing deals + no high picks.

So a trade to LA is vetoed but a trade to LA then gets approved? Is LA only a big market when it's the Lakers? The whole thing seems fishy.

Yep, so like I said, if you guys value the lottery picks over the players, so be it. I can't disagree like I said.

BTW Odom isn't guaranteed past next year. Just to throw that out there.

Not to mention Lakers turned Odom's contract into a draft pick and TPE money

I don't see this happening. No way they get Paul without giving up Gordon and if I'm the Clippers, I'm not giving him up regardless.

Also, from a PR standpoint I just don't get how Stern could block the original trade but then let the Hornets receive less than what they got from that deal. People are going to look at the two deals and see Martin/Scola/Odom/Dragic/whatever else NO was originally getting and then see what they ARE getting is Kaman/Bledsoe/Aminu/1st rounder and wonder how that could even be possible.

Then you add in the fact that Stern is almost in a way rewarding the racist owner of the league and giving him the best (or second best, whatever) PG in the league. I just...I don't know. The league was effed pretty much no matter what happened, but this doesn't seem like a good enough trade to justify stopping the original from going through. I know the main reason was that the Lakers were freeing up that cap space, but *turns off Lakers/Kobe hate* it just doesn't seem right to punish a team for having the ability to do that. *turns hate back on*

Whatever. I don't know. This whole situation has me not knowing exactly what to think. I just want Paul traded so this **** can be over and done with. It's hurting my head thinking about it.

BnG, just reply to Court's post on the difference between this trade and the shot down trade.

It does make some sense IMO. NO's gets two lottery picks and they still get some decent young talent in Bledsoe.

Overall idk, Paul for a lottery pick and some boderline decent talent and a center you're just going to dump at the end of the year. Clippers don't give up their best or second best player. Overall it just seems blah.
