I believe at some point the league needs to make a stand and stop all this b.s. with players dictating where they go and who they play with even if they are already under contract.

This is why i enjoyed basketball in the 90's so much better than today players
All Chris Paul is saying is that he's opting out of his contract next year, which is his right. He's not demanding a trade. That wouldn't make sense, because he gets more money if he becomes a FA. The Hornets determine whether they want something for him or not, not Paul.

The players aren't the bad guys in this, they're within their rights.

Has nothing to do with players going where they want. They could be free agents and play out the year, but teams would lose the value for nothing.

Using cp3 as a hypothetical example.

If a team is willing to risk trading the everything and the kitchen sink without any word from the player they are after then so be it. Clippers could give the world for Cp3 but without a guarantee why would they be inclined to rent cp for a year when they could keep their assets.

But if a guy wants to go to a specific team, and there is a mutual deal, then great.

If not, find a deal for Cp3 that's somehow better, without a guarantee.

Otherwise, the only other option is losing a guy to free agency so he can go wherever he wants.

Your logic basically is that free agency shouldn't exist since you feel players should have no say in where they go. They are not obligated to sign an extension with any team, so why screw over a team by taking all of their assets and leaving the following year?

It was always about principal. What the hell did you think it was really about, Broussard

Which is why I'm not expecting Duhwight to get moved before the beginning of the season except the only difference is there's no pressure for Otis Smith to move him now.

From NBA perspective, if CP walks, then NOH has $26M on books for 12-13, then $7.7M for 13-14. Nothing after. Blank slate for buyer.

          It becomes clear...sort of.

One of "changes" Dwight Howard wants is signing of Chauncey. If DH12 stays, sources say he'll urge Billups to spurn Heat and "anchor" Magic

Also Pat Reliy would never sign someone he didn't think could fit (or be fit in Eddie Curry case). I remember when Q Richardson was like he had never been totally fit until he played for the Heat. Even Eddie House last year looked the best I've seen him since college. Eddie Curry looks like he is on the same path. Let's just hope it translate to the court. If Curry can bring 9pt 5reb a game off the bench. That will be really nice.

If Billups signs with the Heat. I seriously can't imagine having a better floor general for a bunch "misfits" lol.

You know Stan Van would love Billups chucking up threes.

Honestly, if they sign Billups, they'd be a playoff team. Only teams I see LEGITIMATELY better than them right now are the Bulls and Heat. If the Knicks can play defense, they'll be up there. Who knows with the Pacers. They could easily be the third of fourth seed, and maybe acquire more talent next year.

Orlando could definitely make a push with Billups.

MT @ESPNSteinLine: Obviously Chauncey Billups must first clear waivers later today at 6 PM ET. Then D12 will lobby him to choose Magic

Dwight is actually giving Otis Smith a chance to redeem himself. He's giving the Magic a chance to keep him.

Not surprised at all. Been banging on that drum for a long time. An issue was odom not being worth anything. Kupchak turned it into a draft pick and TPE for salary dumping
