Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Doesn't he get more money by signing an extension anyway because he'd get the extra year?Comment

Near the deadline on amnesty waiver wire, Nets are still "debating" putting in a claim for Chauncey Billups, league sources tell Y!Comment

OK, so why is Demps trying to deal him and the league just keeps blocking him? And he's not even being traded to his preferred team, the Knicks, and they are still blocking it.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
This is his 7th year with the Hornets. What, he doesn't have a right to make his own decisions after 7 years? Especially after they've been stuck in mediocrity?Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
It's something in the new CBA that would allow Paul to get more money as a Free Agent. It's the same reason why Deron Williams is opting out of his contract instead of signing an extension.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
There's a way of leaving your team friend, you either do it clean like Boozer or Stat did (they didn't generate any buzz, didn't pressure the owners) they simply finished their contract year and chose another destination. The Decision, The Melo-Drama, now this Paul & Howard nonsense... His point was that Paul already planned this a long time agoComment

Bottom line for Kupchak: If team can be improved, it will be. Only person guaranteed to be in L.A. is Kobe (no trade clause).Hope is lost. Faith is broken. A fire will rise.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
K players shouldn't be allowed to be free agents with that logic. Should continually sign extensions so their teams can trade them anywhere they want despite what the player may or may not want. As opposed to finding a compromise, finding a feasible deal, and letting the team maximize value or letting a player walk in free agency. New Orleans doesn't have to trade cp3, but he can walk and leave them with nothing at end of season.

Why are they blocking it? To get their perceived most value for him.
They made the playoffs last year so what mediocrity are you referring to?Comment

Dude come on, I didn't say a player shouldn't be allowed to be a free agent. However don't try to paint this picture as if they're trying to help out they're teams on the way out when they say trade me to one team and one team only or there's just two teams they wanna go to. That's all I'm saying, it's a business and it's they're right to wanna play wherever, but spare me the talk of maximizing value and all this other stuff when the best deals for these guys aren't getting made because the team knows they aren't competing with anybody to get the guy because he only wants to be on your sqaud. The only reason Denver made out like they did last year is because of the looming lockout. If lockout time was next year instead of when it was, the Knicks look completely different right now and Dwight/Paul is a totally different situation as they try to have they're cake and eat it too (still never understood that saying, if I got cake you damn right I plan on eating it).
