Bill Walton..........Big Z..............Yao..........damm, that injury just kills 7 footers.

Yao hardly missed a game during his first three seasons / Lopez didn't miss any.

We all know what happened after that for Yao.

Regardless of everything, that injury is enough to scare everyone away from Lopez. Even if they don't get Dwight, NJ may be reluctant to ink Lopez long term after this.

Signing a 7 footer with a stress fracture is basically gambling the next 5 years of your franchise on an injury that can come back at any moment and is basically unavoidable in basketball. You can't "avoid" pressure on your feet in the way you can avoid / manage other injuries.

    Horrible day for the Nets.

Damn Court, you're gonna start bumming out Nets fans with those last few posts. I hear what your saying, but you really think he's gonna go by way of Yao?

I guess time will tell no doubt.

Did they all suffer the same exact injury?

Yao is just a freak though at 7'6 and for his size, any foot or knee injury would be more devastating to him.

But I agree, anytime a 7 footer suffers any sort of foot or knee injury, it's amplified for sure.

So you think they'd pass on a guy with a stress fracture but take a guy with knees of jello?

Its no difference IMO...gimpy knees and a bad foot or ankle can pretty much go hand in hand

Meh. I'm already looking ahead to next season. Well the offseason at least. That's when we find out if the Nets open Barclays with the worst roster in the league (or close to it) or not.

until then though, lets go Nets.

It'll be interesting to see what the Lakers try to do.

Tough for the Nets, was looking forward to seeing Brook progress

Brook is much more similar than Big Z was. I think what happened to Big Z should help Brook as to what he has to do to come back.

It's definitely not like Yao, and in an entire different world than Bill Walton.

                Still...damn.

I think people need to chill with the Brook is done talk. Unless I missed it..he didn't even limp off the court. He sat because he picked up his 4th foul.
Maybe..just maybe he'll be back in February.
                  Young guy..no history of injuries.

According to Woj, the Jazz traded Mehmet Okur to the Nets for New Jersey's 2015 second-round pick.

Okur to Nets for 2015 2nd-round pick

“The biggest reason (to trade Okur) is we were able to gain what we consider a valuable asset in the trade exception,” Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor said. “We wouldn’t have made a deal unless we got something that’s an asset back.”

Especially because it involved a beloved player like Memo, who’s exuded positivity in Utah for so long.

Okur has been a fan-favorite in Utah for years because of his long-distance sharpshooting skills and his affable personality that was expressed through charming broken English and friendly facial features.

Because of the timing and considering Okur has to uproot his family, O’Connor called the business move “a lousy thing.”

“There’s a human part to this that doesn’t feel very good,” O’Connor admitted. “But from a business point of view (trading to improve your team) is what you do during the season and offseason. You’ve got to look at it from what’s best for the Jazz.”

Solid move for both teams in my opinion. When does Okur expire?

Damn I feel for you Pack. Being good with 15-20? I remember those days. They aren't now and never will be fun times. Hope they can come up with something.

Complete hypothetical because there isn't a chance in hell this would ever actually happen, but if Howard didn't care where he went at all and would re-sign anywhere besides Orlando, do you think a team like Detroit could offer enough to entice Orlando? Like Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight, someone with a higher salary like Prince or Gordon or something and draft picks?

Or a team like Sacramento could offer Cousins, Evans, Hickson and draft picks or something?

Obviously this would never happen because Howard wouldn't re-sign with those teams, but I was just thinking about hypotheticals when I was playing 2k12 earlier today.
