Can be if he can bring you a consistent 20/10 every night, which I believe he exceeds

Best rebounder in the league who also gives you 20+ppg and has developed a nice 3 point shot and is still pretty young / room for improvement. I'd say he's a max player.

The discussion about him has been that's he isn't a max player because he doesn't get his own shot. Can a player that an offense doesn't run though be a max player?

To me he is, especially considering the way some of these GM's overpay.

Yeah I can see that criticism and maybe another argument against him is that he has already reached his ceiling. With that being said I think if you are going to get 25 and 14 out of him like he has been putting up this season for the next 4-5 years that's about as max worthy as you'll find comparatively speaking.

You mean he doesnt create his own shot and still gets 20/10?

Similar to the meme that the answer is always Batman, with questions like these in regards to guys like Kevin Love who actually have legit numbers and legit skills, the answer is always

'If Joe Johnson and Rashard Lewis are max players (insert player here) definitely is a max guy.'

I think he will. The Knicks will ride out whatever the result of this season is and then hire Phil in the offseason.

Maybe it is too perfect to happen, but I'd love to see it.

Phil in NYC would be awesome. I wonder if his back is fixed, that would play a big role in him coming back imo....

Phil has never coached a team that was this talent deficient

The only teams Phil would come back to coach are Chicago, OKC, and Miami. The Bulls aren't gonna fire Thibodeau, so that leaves 2.

How come you don't think he would coach the Knicks? Is it a talent issue? Like maybe he doesn't think they'd fit the triangle?

Well with the way those guys (don't) pass the triangle is too complicated. They'd have to run a line offense. Also at this stage in his career in don't think he'd want a project like that. Historically his star players are willing to play defense. Neither Carmelo or Amare seems interested in doing so especially at this stage in their career.

He has auerbachs record...what's the motivation?

I would say Kevin Love isn't a max player. Is he putting up max numbers yes, but he doesn't have max impact on a season. To me a max player when healthy will always have his team in playoff contention. Minnesota has been awful even with Love's numbers. To me that's not a max player.
You looking at the Chair MAN!

Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.

The T'Wolves obviously need to lock up Love for the sake of the chise....but I don't think he's a max player...

He "gets his numbers" more than dominates a game IMO.....which I think a max player should have the ability to do...obviously the Hawks don't agree with my theory...
