Of course you're not going to give up the world to get him. But you make it sound like he's JaVale McGee or Andray Blatche LOL. Hell, at least he can play and bring something to a team compared to these 2 dummies.

I would be PISSED if they got Scola, Martin, AND Dragic for Gasol.

2 championships, Scola, Martin, and Dragic for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, and Marc Gasol. Cool.

I'm thinking Stern already has V-E-T- spelled out and ready for the O if that Pau trade gets made.

Nah. If Houston is stupid enough to do a trade like that, they deserve what they get. They're not owned by the NBA.

I forgot that part lol, I was thinking from the angle of not letting the Lakers improve this year via trade.

If the NBA gave a damn about keeping the Lakers from improving via trade, we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place cause Pau wouldn't even be in LA.

The character issues are overblown at this stage in his career, he's really come a long way maturity wise, and don't really buy the whole All Star issue either....I think he just wants out, and I don't blame him one bit.

                        I think he'd thrive in an actual....offense.
His character issues aren't why I wouldn't touch him, it's his skill set.

Like Blue N Gold said, you wouldn't want this guy to be your one two or maybe even third option. He is way too inconsistent offensively and he really doesn't have an identity on offense. Unfortuantely he thinks he's a focal point and he also will be paid as a focal point.

His defense, transition game and athleticism are all awesome but not enough to outweigh my concerns.

Players have made careers off those skills alone though, haha..

I haven't seen/heard anything from him that makes me think he wants to be "the man". He seems comfortable in his skin to me. I think he's a solid 15 and 9 in almost any system.....

My biggest concern would be his knack for taking those dreaded jumpers.....but I have 0 doubts the right coach can shut that down If need be.

I am surprised his jumper hasn't improved by now though..lol

I'm sure players have made a lot of money off lesser skills than Smith, but that's not my point at all. My thing is he doesn't have any sort of identity on offense. His salary will probably dictate for him to be a #2 or #3 option. He's definitely not the type of guy I'd want to run any plays for on the perimeter or in the paint.

If he could go to a team where there's already three sources of consistent offense, sure go for it. I doubt there's many teams with three solid offensive options that could also take on Smith's salary.
