Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

The Lakers better pull something insane like Carmelo for Luke Walton, Metta World Peach and a bag of skittles.. It would seriously take something that drastic to renew my faith in their management.

Minny is giving them a 23 year old former number 2 pick and they don't want to take the risk because of luxury taxes for this year...

2012 must be the last year of existence because the Lakers are acting like the Clippers and the Clippers are acting like the Lakers.

It would be laughable if the Lakers pulled the trigger on that trade. Beasley?

They have a huge hole at the point guard position, and very little in assets to fix that. Minny wanted the Dallas 12 1st and the Odom TPE, leaving them with nothing outside of Gasol and Bynum as tradeable assets. Why pull the trigger so quickly when he trade deadline is so far?

The TPE and Pick can be extremely vital in any other moves they may be lining up, no reason to burn those assets out when the deadline is more than two weeks away.

I'd like Beasley, but not yet. Other avenues need to be explored before committing, they won't have much more of a chance to add to the roster.

Jukeman, where are you hoping Rondo ends up?

March 1st, rookies and newly acquired FAs from the off season are fair game.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)

Like I said it would take something major (obviously my example was an exaggeration made in jest) to restore my faith. There are two ways to go forward with this Laker team and I happen to fall into the keep our core camp. I would have understood the CP3 deal because he's truly an elite player but if the Lakers end up trading Gasol for Scola and Dragic or even Lowery I'm going to be pissed.

Lowery has had an excellent season thus far but until I see multiple All-star caliber seasons on a consistent basis I can't put him on too high of a pedestal.

I also happen to be fine with the Lakers keeping Bynum, Howard is the more dominant player hands down but unless that trade is Bynum and minor assets for Howard I'd prefer to keep Bynum.

The other critical thing to me is if you make a major overhaul mid season you have to give the team time to mesh and that's time that's also making Kobe a bit older.

I'm fine with the Lakers waiting a week or so to see if they can hit a home run but I'm pissed at reports that they're rejecting the Beasley trade purely to save on the luxury tax bill.

If the Lakers can swing two smaller deals, one being Beasley and the other for a half decent point guard who can at least hold his own on D they'd be in a much better position right now then if they totally gut their team for one superstar who may or may not clash with Kobe over alpha dog status.

Was literally about to type the same thing. Then I look at the teams involved and it basically sums things up.

Where does everyone think Rondo could end up? Since he has a 4 year deal, whoever acquires him at least doesn't have to worry about him bailing after one year or anything. I was thinking that the only places that really make sense would be someone like Dallas (but I have no idea what they could offer), Indiana (maybe some sort of deal involving Paul George/Darren Collison?), or Phoenix (Nash + Markieff Morris so they can make one more run with Nash, Ray, Pierce, Garnett, and then rebuild after the year with Nash, Garnett, Ray, and Jermaine O'Neal all coming off the books?)

I'd take Dallas out for the simple fact that they're all in(or trying to be)for Deron and/or Duhwight so they're trying to free up space for that and taking Rondo would be the opposite of that.

As for Indiana: GM 101-Never go small for big(pause).

And Phoenix(and Nash)has already said they're not trading Nash and are actually trying to resign him.

But let's not compare these two guys because one is entering his prime and the other is entering retirement.

But yes I know it was more of a joke

My main point in saying that was....speak the **** up. If you want to leave, then flat out tell you don't want to be there. That simple but just stop with this, "Oh if you get such and such, then I'll reconsider" crap.

I don't see Rondo being traded to a contender though. Mainly because I see Boston wanting to get as much value as possible for the future, aka high draft picks.

Maybe to the Kings? They have some pieces that the Celtics would potentially be interested in and their draft picks this year would have value.

Idk, just throwing them out there.

@ Rondo and Cousins on the same team.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during their practices.
