If only he could defend Miami's weakest position.

It is a good pickup if you don't have holes elsewhere and cap space to fill those holes.

I thought Center was their biggest need and they balked at it.

I don't understand how they didn't push for Samuel Dalembert and do everything to convince him to sign there.

Battier is not even going to start unless they move Wade to PG.

This move shouldn't scare anyone in the East. It makes them a bit tougher from the perimeter but that's it.

Lost a lot of respect for Battier. Though I'm sure he doesn't give a damn about me or anyone else who thought he was one of the classiest players in the league. Guess he isn't.

I think that's the thing about Shane, he's like fine wine. Maybe he isn't as consistent as a scorer as he once was, but he doesn't need to score on that Miami squad. His basketball IQ is great, he's a solid passer, he generally makes sounds decisions, and he's a great perimeter defender. He actually shot a career third best last season from the field, while shooting pretty much on par with his career average of 38% beyond the arc. He's never been heavily relied on on the offensive end so his not being brought in for that reason. He's also a good if not great rebounder from the 3. He's 33 so he's lost quickness no doubt, but his defense and the way he positions himself and uses his arm length / hands set him apart.

I agree its surprising to see them pull the trigger so quickly before shoring up the front court, I was thinking Dalembert as well. Still no details about the deal though so we have to wait and see, though with the Heat taking Curry I imagine they used most if not all of the MLE on Shane. If they had more cap to use they wouldn't have moved so quickly on Curry.

This isn't Miami signing Lebron and shaking up the East. But another high IQ guy who remains level headed is a big move for the Heat who just missed a title by a couple wins. It makes them better, and gives them a reliable bench presence in a condensed 66 game schedule a season after Lebron felt like he was playing too many minutes at times (though not playing anywhere close to career high minutes)

Why? Because he went to go play for a team you dislike? He wants to win a championship, and he has been around long enough that his window is closing. If he went somewhere else to a winner would you have lost respect? (Not counting LA)

Wait I don't get it Matrix. Battier is 33 and being the end of his career he knows this. How us him joining the hated Heat a classless move? Should he just say ” ohhhhh man you guys have a puerto good chance at competing for a championship but joining you guys would be classless, I'll join the Kings instead”

                ?_?

I'm good with Ford signing as either an emergency back-up to Tony or his primary in case Neal under performs. Now, hopefully they can bring in either Butler or Prince, I personally prefer Prince, and trade for another big. I like that their still attempting to compete, but they still need another legit 4/5 that can score a little.

With Dallas possibly losing Chandler the West is now wide open. Will Dallas try to sign a veteran to back-up Haywood or go with Ian and bring in a veteran back-up for Dirk???

That is a ridiculously bad contract even if they acquire Paul in a trade. These GMs just can't help giving out atricious deals. Man, Gasol and Jordan are about to get paid if $15 m/year is the going rate for an above average center. Sheeesh!!!!!

Insane. Warriors must really want to do whatever it takes to keep CP3 if this is the case. Smells like positioning to pull the trigger on Curry. Chandler should give CP 20%

I know Chandler is a great defender and all, but this is ridiculous. Is any other team offering him anywhere near that amount? That's just insane. I think I'd rather keep Curry and not pay that much for Chandler than have my entire salary cap invested in Chandler and CP3 pretty much lol.

Although, at the same time, this lineup looks pretty damn good to me:
                            PG: CP3
                            SG: Monta

You guys think ring-chasing is my problem with Battier when it's not. It's someone with his demeanor and class going to play with a bunch of pretentious, selfish pieces of **** that's the problem.

.... Tyson Chandler in the lead to go to the Knicks. Doing what I wanted to do in Phoenix: Pair Amare Stoudemire with Tyson Chandler. God forbid I don't have a position in an NBA front office.
