He wouldn't be a max player but he could conceivably still be well paid depending on what Paul extends for and considering they trade/amnesty Bynum. I'm sure Dwight's agent has already gave him a figure on how much he can make on endorsements, events, etc. so he I don't think money is an issue at all. I also think the lakers don't make this trade at all if they weren't at least 95% confident they would land Howard.

So again, who rebounds and who defends the paint for the first 5 games for LA?

Am I the only one who thinks this may hurt the Lakers more than it helps this year? The only big they have is Bynum who has injury concerns. Also, how much is he going to be able to do without Gasol/Odom beside him? If LA can somehow get a solid PF or trades Bynum for Howard maybe I'd change my mind. I just don't see how the Lakers right now are better than they were before this trade.

Even with Paul I still think the Lakers are a 3 seed at best, behind Dallas and OKC.

There's a hell of a lot more than "2 or 3 Lakers fans" around these parts (or everywhere, really). I wish that was the case.

This kind of collusion and money grubbing by teams and players is why MLB and NBA will always play second fiddle to the NFL where any given season, any given Sunday, anyone can win.

I really don't see anyone else on the Laker roster worth trading for.
Bynum is likely the best asset the Magic can get. Bynum + Artest inc.

Like I said we have to wait and see what other deals get made but right now LA has no front line.

Your right, but I personally have only seen 3 others besides myself, Drewski, dude with aaron brooks avatar (I think he is anyway), and ex.

True, I am not arguing that the trade "does not make sense" or has no benefits, I just think that Lakers have taken a step back when you add up the pros and cons.
Granted, Paul will help Bynum. But more than having Gasol did? Lakers were a matchup nightmare before. They had two big man capable of dropping 20. Not too many teams could defend that. And too many people seem to be underestimating the importance of Odom. He gave the team so much versatility and now...he gone

That has nothing to do with the fact that they gave up Rudy Gay for NOTHING
You'd tend to be in a better position when you can draft a Derrick Rose you know? Plus like I said hindsight is a bitch. When the move was made I kinda like it, obviously now I'd rather have Rudy Great but it is what it is.
