The CBA, the lockout, nothing can stop the players from leaving and going elsewhere.

Congrats. Bunch of owners whined to Stern and got what they wanted. Way to go. Learn to GM and own and team and stop drawing lines in the sand while talking about making your trades. Not anyones fault but "your own" if you didn't pull the trigger for Paul. Guess it makes a ton of sense to force Paul to stay in NO and then leave for nothing. (And the Hornets pretty damn good value if you ask me)
I'm mad about the act in general, not the fact they blocked LA. I don't think other owners/GMs should be able to tell another owner/GM they can't make a trade.
I think I'm going to just to wait till Friday at 2pm b4 listening to any more news.

No. If its any team other than the Lakers it will go through without an issue.

I'm definitely not mad, but I feel bad for Odom & Gasol. They can't be feeling too good about all this. If anything, I know this is a business but I feel bad for them.

It really is if you think about it. Like someone quoted earlier, it's like the other teams didn't want L.A. to get their shiny new toy.

I really thought this kinda deal wouldn't happen unless L.A. knew they were going to get Dwight as well (losing those two bigs). We'll just have to sit and wait to see what happens next, crazy stuff indeed.

Well, LA got one gift trade

It would've been ridiculous anyway to do this after such a lockout but things looking the exact same anyway, just so happens this team is owned by the league

The whole lockout and the only news out there is the freaking lakers again... this league will remain stagnant forever as long as this is what happens

This bizarre day has put the NBA on the front page, and another thing, why on NBA TV, they keep showing Battier tweets, who care about Jimmy Buffett quotes

I honestly thought people already knew that they(Hornets)would need to get approval from other teams to make trades since they were owned by the league?

This imo is gonna have a trickle down effect. Not good for the league imo right after a lockout.

At the end of the day the Hornets are the ones that really got screwed
                    There's no trickle down effect.

The NBA owns the team. They have a right to say something.

Phil Jackson called this on 12/29/10 about NBA owning Hornets: "When Chris says he has to be traded, how’s that going to go?" ... Jackson: "Someone’s going to have to make a very nonjudgmental decision that’s not going to irritate anyone else in the league.”

I wouldn't want that deal to go thru either if it means the Lakers only take back Paul's contract. How is that a fair deal? The lakers got rid of over 25 million in salaries & only got back what 16 mil..

Your a number's guy. enlighten me?

Idk if this is a joke or not.

Vetoing the trade doesn't make any sense. You can trade him elsewhere, but he won't sign with them, so essentially they're prolonging the inevitable here.

Well, I guess it isn't always good to be the Lakers. I doubt this would have happened to GSW. lol smh

EDIT: I'm afraid when i come back after I leave here to take a test that there will be like 20 pages added....

Don't know but I see why they did it. The NBA is a star driven league and if you put all the big stars on only a select few big market teams can the league as a whole hope to survive? Since the stars only wish to play in big media markets let's just have BOS, LAL,LAC,MIA,NYK,PHI,GSW, HOU, DAL,PHX,DET,NJ,WAS,ATL and gut the rest of the league. With the rest of the teams broken up those other teams would be guaranteed some talent.(Sarcasm in regards to gutting the league but it looks like small market teams have very little chance to keep the real difference makers of the NBA in this current market)

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
