Where the younger assets would come from was still being negotiated early Saturday, with potential candidates to go to New Orleans being Patrick Patterson, Courtney Lee and an assembly of draft picks, according to an executive briefed on the talks.
Give up our youth, potential, and good contracts while keeping our bad ones.

LA still gets Paul and Howard.

Ugh. Here's hoping this is wrong or there's something more to this. Otherwise I might be done for awhile.

I wouldn't be surprised. But, like all players who go to small schools because the bigger schools over-looked them he's used to having the ball in his hand. He seems like a good catch and shoot shooter. Hopefully his off the ball movement is up to snuff.

The Warriors also essentially got Baron Davis in Charles Jenkins. Hopefully he can improve his defense, but dude is built like a freaking tank at point.

Edit: Though is it just me, or was this an unusually "slow" draft in terms of the guards and small forwards? Seems like most of the guards move like their Paul Pierce

        Interesting...

If Mikhail Prokhorov broke the rules and met with Dwight Howard, then it’s not just that Howard will never be a Net, even if that idea was something of a stretch to begin with.

If Prokhorov met with Orlando’s superstar big man in Miami the other night and the NBA has a watertight case of tampering against the Nets owner, then he probably just killed any chance of re-signing Deron Williams.

Williams is saying all the right things about staying long-term with the Nets. But if the team is penalized because its owner and GM brazenly flouted the rules by meeting with a player who currently is property of another team, then the Nets are looking at losing several No. 1 draft picks, at the very least.

Am I the only Bulls fan not excited about the possibility of Rip Hamilton coming to Chicago?

Nah, Rockets still have plenty of young talent at their disposal and they likely keep either Martin or Scola. A Gasol and Scola tandem could make them a legitimate playoff contender. Plus, they won't be tempted to overpay for the services of Nenê. Nenê isn't better than Gasol, and Scola is nearly as good with a likely cheaper contract.

If the Lakers get Dwight miraculously, then I'm done

I'd love to see him in a Nets uniform, just to establish a NY rivalry w/ the "other" NY team. Would be good for the league.

Scola is a much better scorer and rebounder than Nene. It's a shame he's gonna capitalize big time for averaging 14 and 7. SMH.

Pack should be mighty happy his Nets drafted/signed Marshon. I swear this kid has "Old Kobe" written all over his game.

I'm really liking what the Mavs are doing. Setting themselves up nicely for a run at Deron Williams and Dwight Howard.

Confirmed: Tyson Chandler will come to Knicks via sign/trade. Hearing that Andy Rautins will go to Mavs, who also get a trade exception.
Keep an eye on that trade exception for Dallas. Could be helpful in a deal for, say, Dwight Howard. Would let Mavs take back a bad contract
DAL gets huge trade exception in Chandler deal. Could absorb HT's $11M in a sep. deal w/ ORL. I just don't think they have assets to get DH.

I actually think that this kid might be the steal of the draft. He gets the right coaching, I can see him being an all star in the next couple of years.

A writer put this out there. It's not a source or a rumor or anything. Just a what-if.

What if- Rip Hamilton signs to the Knicks for their $2.5M exception.

Not saying he would, and Rip could get more money elsewhere and go to a "closer" contender (ie., Chicago)...but that would be a huge coup if the Knicks could get him.

I have a feeling that by Monday...I'll either have the same feeling I had when the Packers beat the Bears in the NFC Championship or that I'll have the same feeling I had when the Packers won the Super Bowl.

That's why I said "OLD Kobe". He has NONE of young Kobe's explosiveness or ball handling ability. But did you see his post game? The only guard in the draft that had one.
