Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Gasol is overated IMO....
He's just another guy that has to be surrounded by other top tier players in order to succeed.
I really don't see him any different from what he was in Memphis...he's overhyped because he's in LA
That's why i was so glad Dirk had the chance in front of everyone to show them nothing has changed about Gasol he's still Dirk's &%&% on the floor regardless of where he goes to play.
If he was in Milwaukee being traded for Chris Paul people would call it a rip off in the Bucks favorNCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Look at the Nuggets-Knicks-(Timberwolves) deal:
Knicks: Carmelo Anthony, Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, Renaldo Balkman
Nuggets: Wilson Chandler (Age-24), Danilo Gallinari (Age-23), Raymond Felton, Timofey "Blake-Griffin-owns-me-for-life" Mozgov (Age-25) and three deaft picks including a 1st rounder in 2014
The Wolves got Anthony Randolph and apparently Eddy Curry.
Basically, the Hornets have to immediately be able to enter rebuilding mode with someone to actually build around, at least. Goran Dragic would've been the youngest guy in that deal, and he's 25. Plus, Dragic at this point isn't someone you plan on building around.
That's why I think Stern will insist the Lakers trade Andrew Bynum to the Hornets. Like it or not, that's the only way you're getting Paul. Who knows, the Rockets may send Jordan Hill or Patrick Patterson to the Lakers, or the Hornets may send over Carl Landry. But I'm pretty sure Bynum will be involved in this deal.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
That's why it was pretty silent when the first trade went down because you all knew that it was a precursor to something else (D12). It's the reason you (not you in particular) kept saying that the Hornets were getting a "fair" deal and have depth when we all know the Hornets roster would be full of garbage.
If I just got one of the top players in the league...I'd be pretty pumped don't you think? It was crickets in here because you all knew that it was just Step 1 of 2.
Now that it appears that the Lakers will have to give up more...which would in turn hamper them being able to trade for D12...it's more of an issue.
I really don't care anymore what the Lakers do...but stop fronting and just call it what it is.Comment

Ryan McNeill: As I feared, Pietrus didn't pass his physical. The trade is off and he'll return to PHX. This could hurt Hill's chances of staying w #Suns. 1 minute ago

He was a hell of a player in Memphis, they won a lot of games out there with Pau as their leader. He just wasn't cut out to be the guy to lead them in the post season.
Fast forward to Los Angeles, and he was reason 1B as to why LA made the finals 3 years in a row starting the first season he got there.
Now fast forward even further to present day, yeah I personally wouldn't want him if I'm rebuilding. That's just pointless. He's still valuable as hell to a contender though.
It's silly to call him overrated because in different contexts he'd be rated extremely differently.Comment

Wow...stay classy Chauncey. Goodness gracious.
Billups: "People take my kindness and professionalism for weakness. They think I’ll be OK with (getting claimed). I won’t be OK with this."
EDIT:
Billups wants freedom to choose team. Warns those who'd claim him: You'll regret it. "I'm tired of being the glue guy." Story soon on Y!Last edited by bigeastbumrush; 12-10-2011, 04:16 PM.Comment

You're not okay with getting just CP3.

I keep reading New Orleans was getting value....what value a shot hunter in Kelvin Martin who puts up big numbers in Sacramento and Houston yet it doesn't translate to wins
Lakers fans can't be serious if they think Martin and Scola is equal value for Paul....

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
I don't think Dwight is going to LA.
A small factor in that could be the business side, sort of, of things.
Kobe is sponsored by Nike.
Paul is sponsored by Jordan, which is under the Nike brand.
Howard is sponsored by Adidas.
Don't wanna make it WAY more than it is, but I can't see one billboard marketing Nike, one marketing Jordan, and one marketing Adidas in the same city/relative area.
It would be much easier for Dwight Howard to market his brand in Chica... I mean, NJ/BrooklynComment

Overhyped because he was in LA? Easy there bud.

It's silly to call him overrated because in different contexts he'd be rated extremely differently.
I remember guys like Mike Miller and Eddie Jones doing more work in the playoffs than Gasol.
He's no better today than he was yesterday....
He's overhyped simply because he's in LA you disagree that's your opinion. But if he was in Milwaukee like i said people would say the Hornets got ripped off trading Chris Paul for that jokerNCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

Pau wasn't a hell of a player in Memphis? I'm just gonna take my ball and go home now. You know what, na you can keep my ball, I'm just gonna go home.

Everyone knows the league bails them out anytime trouble starts to come there way.
You also conveniently fail to mention how NO's would get Odom as well as draft picks in what is going to be one hell of a draft.
Now that Stern crushed the deal, Odom's value has gone way down... since he's back in LA crying about being traded.
But outside of the Pau trade, you have to mention more times the league has bailed the Lakers out in terms of trades.Comment

Also nobody's "fronting." Lakers fans can't win here. If we brag about the Paul trade, we are bandwagon jumping front runners who the NBA helps at every turn. If we are quiet, we are "fronting." Give it a rest.Comment
