I have a question. Does anyone think the Nets could make some noise if the Trade for Howard works and we get Nene? Would that work or would the price just be to much? I mean thats Williams, Howard and Nene all out on the floor at one.

I dont follow basketball to much to im not sure how a lot of this stuff works...lol.

Really? The only people that are left are Nene and Dalembert. Most of the top FA have signed or are under offer sheets.

I remember Pack saying if they sign Nene, they won't be able to trade for howard.

I wish Rip would just sign with the Bulls right now.

Okay, I'm finally caught up after getting derailed in the annual OS "rap tournament", lol.

              What'd I miss...

              - Yet another mind-numbing off-topic debate about Kobe and the Lakers (that was painful, thank you mods for squashing it)

              - We're getting Marc Gasol!!!!

              - Wait, no, we're helping Memphis out again...

              - DeAndre is getting paid (not shocked)

              - Clippers are the new front-runners for Paul (I love it)

Here's my rant on CP3 and Howard. If you have to trade your key parts for either one, YOU ABSOLUTELY DO IT.

              Kobe/CP3

              Blake/CP3

              Deron/ Dwight

              Kobe/Dwight

              Rose/Dwight

Those are SCARY combinations. You can find shooters, defenders, athletes etc. on the cheap. Hell, Houston is full of "spare parts" on good contracts. I wish we had one star, and teams are looking at the possibility of locking up two (arguably the very best at their positions) but getting greedy saying "no dice, we want three". Morey understands this concept but unfortunately cannot land a Bosh let alone a Paul or Howard.

Anyway, for Dwight I'd absolutely give up Gasol/Bynum, Noah/Taj, Brook/whatever it takes. CP3 is trickier because he and Kobe both dominate the ball, and they'd give up their inside presence (without getting Dwight back which is risky with Kobe's declining health) but I'd still consider it. I would give up the farm as the Clips, but only if he signed an extension, otherwise that's a lot of hard work and tough it out rebuilding years for the fans potentially walking out the door.

The buyout has to be fully completed and then he has to clear waivers. It should be by Wednesday is what I heard.

                    Yeah, 3rd seed ain't bad. That's assuming the Thunder finishes 1st, and Grizz/Mavs finish 2nd and 3rd.

Now, anything below the 4th, and Kobe calls in a nuke.

That would make 4 KU players on their roster. Crazy.

they beat Portland, LA, OKC and Miami and yet it was fluke in his eyes...

was Miami and LA not the heavy favorites entering last year?

but it's cool i don't expect Lakers fans to give the Mavs any credit for beating their team...it was all about what the Lakers didn't do as opposed to what Dallas did do.

At this point i would love to see Dallas kick their rear end again since last year was a fluke beating LA

Yea Gasol and Jordan just now went under free agency today. CP3 and Dwight are still involved in trade talks.
Free agency just wasn't what I expected considering how little time they have before the season starts.

Seriously, stop. Please. You guys have been warned countless times. It's annoying watching you bicker back and forth.

All of that said, I cannot help but to say, wow, laid out like that I didn't realize your path to the chip included so many great teams. That seriously has to be one of the toughest roads to the finals I've seen. Respect.

                                Getting back on topic...

As a Rockets fan (yeah no one cares about us) I don't want to see us overpay for a NeNe or a Dalembert when they will eat cap, won't help us contend and give us a slightly lower draft pick. As ex puts it, they won't "move the needle"

                                - I'd rather we play the youngsters in this throw away season
                                - Explore draft pick trade options for Scola/Martin
                                - See which of our young good contracts sink and who swims, the swimmers will up their trade stock
                                - Have a good draft, capspace for free agency, and young spare parts with inflated trade values for sign and trades
                                - Make a run at a star by hook or crook
                                - Build from there

This #14 pick mediocrity stuff is killing me, but I understand it's a business and we can't outright tank or risk losing money. It's just depressing as a fan.
