Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
This is what is truly wrong with basketball(and is why this whole CBA situation was a huge fail). A guy like K-Love ,while it's better he stay in Minnesota, paying what it takes to keep him there will most likely cripple the franchise. If Love gets what he wants signing Rubio will be an issue later on.You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Ricky Rubio is on the 1st year of his rookie contract, having -one- maxed guy is not going to cripple the franchise, or stop them from being able to offer Rubio a contract when the time comes for it.
Is K-Love a "max" player? It's debatable. Max gets thrown around loosely now a days so it's hard to base judgments. The Wolves shouldn't -have- to give K Love max money, but if the FO feels like Love/Rubio is their future, they made the best move making sure they retained their guy.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Franchises like Minnesota don't have endless pockets. Paying none max players max money is almost as bad as letting the player go. It's lose-lose for smaller markets. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Realistically, Love is not a max player. BUT due to the inflation of the current market Love SHOULD be a max player. If Joe Johnson can get max money then Love definitely should get his.
Love is a good NBA player. BUT he’s not a superstar. All-Star? Yes. You can’t place Love on a team like the Bobcats and expect them to get more wins. He’ll still get his numbers but the Bobcats will still be a crappy team. NOW Love is an “Get a contending team over the top” type player. You put a player like Love on the Lakers, Mavericks or the Sixers and they’ll raise their odds in Vegas to win the NBA championship. You put Love on a team like the Bulls, Heat or Thunder and in a 82-game season they’ll be shooting for 70 wins.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
He's worth that deal as much as Westbrook is
No he's definitely not a LeBron or Wade or even a Dwight but if he's bringing income into Minnesota then the Wolves can compensate him for that... With the right guys that 20/10 can mean alot to a team.
He's definitely exceeded the JJ Reddick Adam Morrison Christian Laettner group that doesn't produce type hypeComment

I agree with this. Kevin Love is a superb rebounder who would be the top board man on any NBA team. However, he would not be a premier scorer or playmaker on a championship contender, and because of that I wouldn't consider him to be a true max player. As impressive as his scoring numbers are, he does a lot of his scoring by mainly playing the role of a complementary player -- tip-ins and putbacks from missed shots, and 3s from kick outs and ball reversals that resulted from secondary breaks and set plays that are created by his teammates.

I think the Westbrook deal was a mistake on the part of OKC and I think it will come back to hurt the Thunder in the future. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Is there two different MAXs that I don't know about? 'Max' and 'Superstar Max'?I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

I like Love. Money aside would want him on my Hornets. However I don't consider Love a superstar, and I don't think he's the best PF.You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Haha, I'm cool with that.
Seriously though, Kevin Love is getting a max contract only because of his highly inflated value to his current team. The T'Wolves have to keep him by any means necessary to show their fans that they are truly committed to putting together a winning club. So I can't knock the T'Wolves for offering it since I understand the meaning behind this decision.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
What exactly is a max(only one type of max that I know of)player nowadays because it always seems like every year, there's always something added to the "list" to consider someone a max player?
Serious question BTW.#RespectTheCultureComment
