That's all. Eveyone else thinks they're someone they're not. Josh Smith included.
Marvin doesn't have an identity as a player. Worst thing that can ever happen to a basketball player.Comment

I would take Joe Johnson at about half the contract he has now and Horford at his 12 mill a year.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
If you're willing to take Ramon Sessions or Gilbert Arenas, then you'd take Teague back as well, especially since he doesn't fit the description of the rest of the players on that team IE someone they're not.
But to say Al Horford is the only winner, I mean if you count College then yeah he is. And to say you wouldn't take them if they were free? So you mean to tell me all of those players were FA and would agree to play for free, knowing your team's roster situation, you wouldn't sign any of them?#RespectTheCultureComment

That's too bad about James. Always liked his game. Was solid when the Bulls called his number. *sadface*Comment

Last year, Deron Williams got traded. A move that came out of no where. Yeah, there was rumblings of him possibly being moved BUT most around the league didn't think it was going to happen. Same with the Kendrick Perkins move.
Does anybody feel there will be a 'surprise' trade this year?
I'm thinking the moves not many are talking about is the Celtics probably moving one of the big three in Pierce, Garnett or Allen. I'm predicting Pierce gets move. To whom? Not sure.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm XComment

My gut says they aren't going to move any of them because they wanna make one LAST stab at trying to make a run. However if you twisted my arm and convinced me they're gonna do it, I'd say that both Pierce and Allen get's moved leaving KG behind.Comment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
Broussard citing "sources" have revealed the Lakers have rejected a trade with Minnesota of a 1st rounder, and the Odom TPE, for Beasley. Citing dipping into the luxury tax further as the deterrent.
For what it's worth.
The Minnesota Timberwolves offered to trade Michael Beasley to the Los Angeles Lakers for a first-round draft pick, but the Lakers turned them down, according to a league source.
While Beasley, a talented and athletic small forward, would fill one of the Lakers' greatest needs, the Lakers rejected the offer because they do not want to add to their luxury tax bill, according to the source.
With one of the league's highest payrolls at roughly $88 million -- well above the luxury tax threshold of $70 million -- the Lakers are due to pay $18 million in taxes this season. Since there is a dollar-for-dollar penalty for tax-paying teams, taking on Beasley's $6.2 million contract would add another $6.2 million to their tax bill and cost the Lakers an extra $12.4 million.
The Lakers' decision falls in line with their decision to trade Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks for an $8.9 million trade exception in December. While Odom asked to be traded after finding out the Lakers put him in a foiled trade attempt to get Chris Paul, the Lakers' chief motivation for trading Odom was to chop their payroll and to save money.
Under the new revenue sharing plan in the recently adopted collective bargaining agreement, the Lakers will pay a bundle and because of that, owner Jerry Buss is no longer willing to spend so freely in going above the luxury tax, according to sources.
Under the Timberwolves' proposal, the Lakers would have absorbed Beasley's contract into the trade exception they received from Dallas. In return, Minnesota asked for the Lakers' best first-round pick in the upcoming draft. In addition to their own pick, the Lakers own Dallas' first-round pick, as long as it is not within the first 20 selections.Last edited by Drewski; 02-29-2012, 06:51 PM.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Who was the last good/great player taken with a Lakers pick that WASN'T in the top 10? Serious question.#RespectTheCultureComment

Jordan Farmar, Sasha Vujacic & Trevor Ariza were solid picks for us. They were great off the bench & Ariza became a good starter.
No all star caliber players but I don't think we have had a first round pick since we traded for Pau until this upcoming draft. Could be mistaken though"This is for all of my peoples who understand and truly recognize. Some won't get it and for that i won't apologize"- Talib KweliComment

"There’s no uncertainty about my future for me," Nash told HOOPSWORLD. "I’m a Phoenix Sun, I want to finish the season with the Phoenix Suns. I want to see how good we can be and fight for my teammates and fight for my fans. That’s all I consider. I just try to get up every day and work hard so I can play at a high level and help my team. After that, I’m not really concerned with anything."#RespectTheCultureComment
