Let's not start overrating these career 12th men just because they're in the NBA LOL.
No, and I never said any of that. But take a look at just about every team that's won a championship the past decade, they've all got one guy that barely plays, is a fan favorite, has the crowd going nuts when he actually gets in and scores and is a great locker room guy. I'm not saying that there's some kind of magical correlation but Scalabrine isn't hurting the Bulls by being there. Walton is different because his contract was actually hurting the Lakers in terms of their financial freedom. Cardinal isn't hurting the Mavs, he's here on vet minimum. And honestly, we would have to get someone really nice that would actually contribute if we were gonna get rid of Cardinal.

Unless the crowd being excited when the Bulls are up by 20 at the end of the game and getting to see Scalabrine get some playing time and some points is detrimental to the Bulls, I don't see what's wrong with him being there.

EDIT: And actually Dirk would probably be a little pissed if Cardinal got cut, they're basically best friends on the team.

I'd rather the fans chant for Scalabrine than Big Macs or, god forbid, tacos.

I was going to say no, but who the hell knows anymore. I did find this ...

              So maybe they did.

Was more in terms of teams scoring 100+ or holding a team under 100 and the promotions that have fans getting some sort of 'item,' like a free big mac ... or the infamous 'LA Taco Incident.'

Didn't mean to swing the convo tho

His teammates on the Nets used to call him Veal. This led to Nets fans chanting stuff like "we want Veal" whenever they were up big, or just yelling "Veal!" when he would make a bucket.

I'll just copy my two posts from the other thread to dead this debate once and for all(and FWIW, I never ever said he was hurting the team. I just said he's a sideshow act, which he is.)

The Fans cheer for him when he comes in but it ain't they're cheering for him because they think he's nice like that. But then again, NBA Fans aren't necessarily the smartest grape in the bunch anyway. I mean these are the same idiots that boo Kris Humphries because he divorced Kim Kardashian which has nothing to do with his actual game.
So whenever you or anyone else wants to bring up Fans cheering for the 12th man, remember to think about the bolded part.

I don't think I ever said he was hurting the Bulls in any way.

I said from the get, I personally see him as a side show act and want him off my team. The fans act like it's a joke. Hell, even our announcers do. It's ridiculous.

He is awful. Obviously him being the 12th man isn't going to effect my team. Still doesn't mean I can't want him off the roster.

And what a vague example, "Every championship team has a guy that barely plays." God, so every NBA team has a 12th man!!?? You don't say?? Pretty sure every team doesn't have a guy that invokes laughter when he moves around the basketball court.

Pretty sure Pack is the only one that understands.

It's the "human victory cigar" mantra that the fans cheer for. If he's in, they know they won.
