Re: NBA Off Topic
Man, at least he hustled for it damn it. He, Marcus, and Thomas are the only bright spots on the team right now. I have no idea what happened to Evans.Comment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Evans is dropping big time. I remember some even proclaimed him his rookie season to be in the top 5 PG list. Yeah...
I won't lie though, I'd thought he would be around there as well but he's fallen bad. Part of it is Sacramento and the coaching but he's a big part of it as well.Comment

Yea.
I don't think Evans really worked on his game before or during the lockout. He looks like the same ol player he was last year.
Still no jumpshot, and he could only go right. And I don't think Sacramento's HC is putting up with it.
I think Evans will be out of Sac by next yearPSN: MajorJosephxComment

Ex-NBA player Tate George indicted for alleged Ponzi scheme - @njdotcom http://bit.ly/GHMdTH
NEWARK — Former New Jersey Net Tate George was indicted this morning by a federal grand jury on charges that he ran a $2 million Ponzi scheme through a purported real estate development firm.
George, 43, of Newark, was indicted on four counts of wire fraud, the office of U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said. He previously was charged with one count of wire fraud following his surrender in September to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities accused George of holding himself out to potential investors as the CEO of The George Group and claiming to have more than $500 million in assets under management. The money was to be used to fund supposed real estate projects in New Jersey and Connecticut, but instead the $2 million that clients invested with him was used to make payments to existing investors, as well as for George's personal use, authorities said. The George Group had virtually no income-generating operations, Fishman's office said.
George, who earned basketball fame for sinking a last-minute, game-winning shot to advance the University of Connecticut in the 1990 NCAA tournament, faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines for each count if convicted. His attorney, Thomas Ashley of Newark, did not return a message immediately."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." Glad that this thread is finally stickied.
Big News, Kobe being sincere again?and giving compliments???Must be having a good week!
In December, Bryant criticized the Lakers for trading Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks, yet still gave the front office a vote of confidence at least for pursuing Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. In February, Bryant blasted the front office for leaving Pau Gasol in limbo and giving uncertain signals about the organization's direction. And on an appearance Thursday on 710 ESPN's Mason & Ireland, Bryant called executive Jim Buss a "great guy" and praised the Lakers for making "the right decisions." "We have a good relationship," said Bryant, regarding his relationship with Jim Buss. "People misunderstand that relationship. We’ve had good times. We’ve had dinner together, things like that. He’s a great guy. He wants to do the right thing, he wants to help us win a championship. The biggest thing is, the same with his father who he’s learned from, he’s not going to make rushed decisions. He’s going to be patient, he’s going to take his time, and the one thing I will say about the Lakers organization is that this is one of those franchises that always seems to land on its feet. Always seems to make the right choices, always seems to make the right decisions. Even the tough ones. He’s a great guy.”Last edited by Nathan_OS; 03-23-2012, 01:27 PM.PSN: MajorJosephxComment

Re: NBA Off Topic
Bird has been somewhat underwhelming when he took over as President in 2003. He had some good season from 2003-2006 BUT that was mostly players he did not acquire. Then when he really started re-building, it took them about 5 years to even make the playoffs.
I always thought his one of his biggest mistakes was letting Rick Carlisle walk. I was no Carlisle fan at the time BUT the alternative of Jim O'Brien was worst off. Even though I didn't think much of Carlisle, I thought he was a decent coach. BUT you don't replace a decent coach with a bad coach.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Re: NBA Off Topic
Oh no doubt. The Pacers are finally getting it together. It just took Bird a little longer than most people expect it. However, I do believe that he was given a lot of leeway because of who he is.
NOW, before someone looks at this backwards, THIS IS NOT A RACIAL THING. I believe that a white guy who never played NBA basketball would have gotten a much shorter leash than Bird.
The fact is that Bird is an icon in Indiana, his home state. And he's an ex-NBA superstar. And considering that the other stars from his era became GM's in Jordan and Isiah, failed miserably then Bird was given the chance to be the last hope with some front office success.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong.
