That sounds pretty rude either way.
It's a common expression (used in the lawyer world more than anything else). He's basically answering a question Rome can't answer. Either yes or no still says that at some point he beat his wife. It's basically a metaphor for what he felt Rome was doing to him by asking about the lottery. The bad thing is he's dead wrong, he answered the question "NO" and that was all that really needed to happen. If anything, Stern should've took it as an opportunity to help us understand the process more to help prove it's not fixed. But both these guys deserve the bad press so no love loss from me.

Why does not one NBA player just watch TFB videos, then go perfect them and then get in the dunk contest.

Screw the stars, if someone did those dunks during the contest, it would bring the house down.

              Re: NBA Off Topic

David Stern does not like that talk. Not one bit. You know how he gets about the NBA’s image. Flopping came up at his annual meeting with the media before Game 1 of the NBA finals and he was clearly frustrated.
“‘Flopping’ almost doesn’t do it justice,” Stern said. “Trickery. Deceit. Designed to cause the game to be decided other than on its merits. We’ll be looking at that.”
By “we” he means his streamlined (read: easier to control and manipulate) competition committee, which is going to start meeting next week. That committee has a couple owners, a couple GMs, players and owners (it used to be the 30 NBA GMs that decided rule changes). Stern said he has seen the agenda for the competition committee and flopping is on it.
Looking at it is one thing, the bigger challenge is how do you address it — if you’re talking about a charge/block situation that is a tough call anyway.
“Instant replay and elimination of tricks that are designed either to fool the ref or, if you don’t fool the ref, to make the fans think that the refs made a bad call by not calling it,” Stern said. “That shouldn’t have a place in our game….
“We don’t like to get into a situation where we tell the officials, ‘This is the rule but don’t call so many.’ If there’s a rule to be changed, then we’ll look at it, and I think there will be a robust discussion about an interpretation or an emphasis about how that should or shouldn’t be called.”
Flopping can already be called as a foul and you can train the referees to look for it more. But the problem remains that it is an interpretation call and guys are looking for an edge. There are going to be struggles enforcing this because flops will still get foul calls and some fouls will get called flops. It is not going to be clean.
But they are going to try to do something. David Stern is tired of the talk.

Why should they? a handful of people are selected to compete in a contest that barely anyone cares about. Perfecting dunking really does nothing to improve someone's game. I'm just going to go out on a limb here and guess that if someone from a team you follow or a player you care about were interviewed and asked what they worked on for the summer and replied with "yeah man I put weeks into my dunks so I can win the contest this year," you'd be like "WTF?!"

Is this what it came to for Dray Blatche?..Grunfield like you did Young and McGee get this dude out of DC..even other coaches are taken shots at him

Rivers absorbed some criticism for not giving Bradley quality minutes sooner, but the coach said even with the benefit of hindsight, he wouldn't do it differently.
"You can't hand it to them," Rivers said. "I look at the Washington [Wizards] model, where they played Andray Blatche and those guys, and what did it teach them? That they're going to play them anyway?"

I don't understand how it took Stern this long to openly admit that flopping is a disgrace and hurts his product. He needed to say that in about 2005.

For those that heard about the Chris Brown/Drake "Fight" that took place in NYC, Tony Parker was there in attendance but unfortunately did not come out unscathed:

San Antonio Spurs All-Star point guard Tony Parker sustained an injury to his eye when a bar fight in New York City broke out and he and his girlfriend were near the fracas reportedly started between music stars Chris Brown and Drake.
Parker is in France to begin preparation for the 2012 Olympic games and spoke to the French media (via infobae.com) about the incident.
"I was quietly with my friends when a fight broke out. Bottles started flying everywhere. I tried to protect my girlfriend and I got everything," Parker said, wearing sunglasses to hide the wound.
"The cornea is affected. I cannot do anything for seven days. Wear a therapeutic contact lens and I get drops. I was lucky, that I almost had to get stitches," he added.
Fortunately, TP will be OK and should fully recover in time to play with France in London.
This hasn't been a good start to Parker's summer vacation. First, the Spurs were eliminated from the playoffs by the Thunder after riding a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals and now this.
Knicks G Iman Shumpert was there too but was not injured.
