    Are the La lakers done??

With the off season the lakers just had, losing out on paul and trading Lamar.
Can the lakers win the title with the roster they have now? Let me know what your opinion is.

Yes they can win the title. Even though the big lost we had with LO we still have the depth to go deep to the playoffs & finals. And remember Kobe's now injury free, for now at least. He looked really good offensively against the LAC even though he had 7 turnovers.

And I still believe the Lakers are gonna make a move regarding trades.
Hope is lost. Faith is broken. A fire will rise.

They could not win it with last years roster....so why would you think that they would want to keep it. They need to make some trades and they will be contenders again. It is just hard for Laker fans not to be the top dog...they have been at the top for so long it will take some time to get back to that.

done. they've never addressed their shortcomings at point guard, which especially needs attention now that they won't be using the triangle offense. everyone on their roster got a year older, they lost 1 of their top 4 players, and everyone on the roster probably suspects they might be traded in the coming weeks or months. the lakers have a very unsettling situation. they also looked tired last year during the playoffs. a shortened 66 game season with back to back to backs aint gonna help.

as for their competition, the clippers actually look pretty good. if the way chris paul played against the lakers in the playoffs last year is any indicator, then imagine how bad it's gonna be with griffin, billups, and jordan helping him out. the other team that the lakers are going to have a lotta trouble in the western conference is the thunder. and if the lakers get through the western conference? miami, new york and chicago will be waiting.

the window has closed on the black mamba. (unless they pull off a trade for dwight howard and a few other younger and more spry players sooner than later.)

With this roster I would have to say no.
We need a good pg that would allow us to bring D.Fish off the bench, that would be better than him having to start...Then again this the Lakers, and when we talk basketball almost anything is possible.

They'll be fine. People forget they're the Lakers. No way the league denies another superstar trade after all the controversy behind the whole Chris Paul trade.

And they WILL get another superstar

Assuming "done" means not winning a championship how can anyone think they're anything BUT done? They're a year older, they don't have Lamar Odom, they lost Phil Jackson and this is after getting humiliated out of the playoffs... but somehow they're gonna be better?

If that's your logic of done then half the league is done. I take LAL still as a team with the ability to make noise in the playoffs. I don't pick them to win it but I definitely would not write them off.

Well, duh > 75% the league is done. This ain't the NFL. There's only 8 teams (and even that's pushing it) that have a chance at winning a championship.

Thats the nba major problem. more then half the league can't win the championship, you can't say the same about the nfl.

they are the Los Angeles Lakers, possibly the greatest franchise in the history of the NBA. They are not done now and never will be done. This season obviously depends on the health of Kobe and Bynum. given the the amount of willpower Kobe has the wrist injury should not be too much of a factor and if Bynum manages to play 70 games they should be fine. In pre season I liked what I saw from Devin Ebanks and Darieus Morris as well and i think the future is not as dark as people say. they have three top 5 position players ( Gasol, Bynum Kobe) when they are all healthy at their respective positions. Trust me the Lakers will be fine and if everything goes according to plan they will end up with the 3 seed

This doesn't have **** to do with anything. Unless we all became residents of middle earth when I wasn't paying attention the ability to summon the ghosts of the past doesn't affect the present. The Lakers are worse this year at every position than they were last year with the possible exception of Bynum. They're done. They'll make a nice trophy for someone come playoff time if they make it out of the first round.

Kobe just got to much minutes on those legs. We know when he is on the court he goes hard, but with the shorten season I think we will run out of gas.

Kobe's the toughest player I've ever seen playing. Even on NBA TV they were talking about it yesterday, unless he has anything broken he will play until he cannot do it anymore. I believe he will play every game this season and still be as consistent as ever.
